When you don't tuck in, they just look like dark denim shorts, which is fine. I wore them that way today with a long tank and a shorter embellished sweater/vest-y thing. But there's not really a way to show off the button detailing without tucking in. A shorter top wouldn't look right, I don't think, unless it were some floaty high-hip thing. Aside from just the general unflattering nature of tucking on my proportions, it would also give me muffin top. I also gained virtually all the weight I lost back so I'm back to my non-belting ways. I'm not sure what to do. I got these for only $10 to experiment with and based on how many ways I can figure out to wear them I'll have a better idea of whether or not it's worth it to get a pair of nicer ones. </p>
