I would not worry about credit card company, this is what they are for, right?:-)
Bummer about the jeans - and I SOOO hear you on the size for premium denim being 32 myself - nowhere to size up AT ALL!
Maybe you do need another pair of darker wash flares so you do not need to do laundry too often? They look so darn good on you!

texstyle, it may be worth a try. (I'd just have to suck up my pride and ignore the number) The fabric on these is quite stretchy. My poor credit card company will be reeling from the spate of purchases and returns!

Are you sure the 32's wouldn't be right? I find that lighter wash jeans are nearly always tighter in my usual size.

Angie, yes, that's true -- the fabric is thinner on the light jeans, which would actually be fine with me, as far as being a little cooler to wear in warm weather.

Well, in the meantime, I'm hanging on to the first pair of Love Story jeans. I need to keep an eye on the return window, but I almost reached for them the other day when the Gap flares were in the wash. I'm getting a lot of wear out of the Gap flares, so the LS really might be worth keeping, even though the wash is so similar they almost look like duplicates.

I know. I tried the same thing. And the fit on the darker wash was better - and the fabric thicker.

How frustrating! IKWYM as I have two pairs of Kut Catherines in two different colors and the one that's a size bigger is actually noticeably smaller than the one that's a size smaller. DD used to work in retail and she said that if an item didn't fit a customer, and only one size was available, she'd just have them keep trying one pair after another and eventually one would fit. That's how much she expected sizing to differ even in the same size of the same item.

I know. I remind myself yet again, it's the pants that aren't right. Not my body.

It's often the case that different washes are actually cut a bit differently. You can even see in the photo that the darker pair have rivets on the pockets and the light ones do not. They truly are different jeans.

They don't even know what size they are making. They have poor quality control yet their prices do not reflect that.
Don't feel bad, premium jean sizes are crazier than the sizing of other garments.
Could the size of the lighter ones be mislabeled? Would it be worth checking another pair? Maybe not but it's just a thought...

I hate that type of sizing anyway. No, it really doesn't match waist measurements, even though that's the theory. I don't like that they often top out at a size 30, 31 or 32. If it makes me feel bad about my body, it must feel even worse to find that these denim makers don't make your size at all. I'm not that $&&#% big!

That's disheartening. You think you know what you're getting, and bam! Inconsistent sizing ruins the day.

I am always a bit mystified by jeans and pants sizing. I mean, isn't the size (24, 25, etc.) supposed to be the waist measurement? How is it that sometimes a size 25 pant has a 28-inch waist? What's up with that? (Mini rant over.)

Why couldn't the sizing have gone the other way? *whine* It seems like denim makers are part of a conspiracy to make me feel fat lately! *pout* *whine* Ok, just had to feel sorry for myself for a moment. I'm done now. First world problems, as they say.

Wow that's some serious inconsistency! Are these the ones from Shopbop? Gosh, if I have one of the 1" longer pairs maybe a normal pair would work for me after all (I think mine are the right length though, sadly).

Bummer, Aida!

That's another thing -- the lighter wash, tighter version is actually also *longer* than the ones I tried earlier. Nearly a full inch longer. I would probably have to hem them if I find another pair that is cut like these, which is a rarity.

Well, the light Palladium wash Love Story jeans arrived, and they are too tight. Same size but too tight. I thought maybe I was just seeing things I didn't see in the other wash because these are lighter, but sure enough, when I held both pairs up together, the light wash are noticeably smaller.

Shopbop only has them in a 32, last I checked, which would be too large. I might poke around and see if I can find them elsewhere in a 31 (I'm trying not to let the number depress me too). Sigh.
