So I found some at Rebel sport.
https://www.rebelsport.com.au/.....80701.html.
I paid a bit more in store.
Ran 12km in them this morning and they are pretty good, even though I wore them back to front! My keys and phone stayed in securely and there would have been ample room for gels of I needed it.

Thanks HJ for introducing me to koala clips. I hadn't heard of them. What an intriguing place for a pocket!

I didn’t think of it before (sorry!) but you could also see about getting a Koala Clip. I use one to carry my phone and key when I’m running in shorts without pockets. It clips to/inside the back of your bra. They say you can use it in a waistband too, but I’ve never tried.

Nemosmum. Thanks. That looks pretty spot on!
Suntiger, I think athleta do ship to Australia. Thanks for the empathy on length of running shorts! I have been seeing bike shorts around a bit too. I own some actual padded bike shorts but of course only use them for cycling, but I presume most of these aren't padded.
Kookaburra, yay a response from a fellow aussie! One of my running friends also recommended Abi and Joseph. Valuable to know the sell out fast. I don't know Rockwear but will check them out. Cotton on is accessible locally which is a boon. Yay for pockets. I am not buying any new running bottoms without them after running with my key on my shoelace recently (annoying) in fact some old gear I am not mad on is being kept largely because it has pockets.
HJ, I'll check out Oiselle. That's a new name for me and sounds great.

Can you get Oiselle in Australia? They make the best running shorts! They have multiple styles that are fitted with pockets. Over the years all of my other running shorts have slowly been replaced by Oiselle shorts. I also appreciate that the brand was founded by a woman and that she continues to work to empower women through running/track & field.

Also in Australia and the Local activewear brands I’ve discovered during iso are:
Abi and Joseph - their range goes very quickly and they only release 1-2 new items per week, but the quality is stellar and yes, they have pockets (I’m now addicted to pockets on my tights, how did I ever do with out them?). You may want to check out their inseam measurements for the different lengths:
https://abiandjoseph.com.au/size-guide

Rockwear - a bit less pricey but the quality varies. When it’s good it is good - and most new styles seem to have pockets but do check
https://www.rockwear.com.au/

Then of course there is Lorna Jane - although they really needed to start putting pockets in more of their styles!
https://www.lornajane.com.au/

Even Cotton On seem to be getting in on the act - these may be too short though but hey, pockets!
https://cottonon.com/AU/rib-po.....edEALw_wcB

Are you able to get Athleta? They have longer shorts with pockets. I think Zella from Nordstroms did too. They call them bike shorts. I'm with you that the usual running shorts are way too short!

Have you looked at Under Armor?

I am looking for some running shorts with specific requirements to suit my body and climate.

I have some extra padding in my thighs, so want both a tight fit to avoid chafing, and a long length in the thigh, so the bottom hem doesn't cut in. I think at least a 20cm inseam.

I don't mind a looser overlay though.
I don't like the feel of 3/4 tights and they are too hot for much of the Australian year.

Must have a pocket!

I found one that meets all these but my size is sold out https://www.nike.com/au/t/city.....BV3837-661
And I am also a bit worried that one of the reviews says the waist ties are bunch.

However, this is generally what I am after and I would love to hear if you have seen anything similar.

Eta. Found some! See post below.
