I remember last year wearing a skirt bare legged in January and thinking it was so weird... I am not sure I would go all the way to sandals, but perhaps my ballet flats or pointed toe flats in your circumstances. Have fun with it and take advantage while you can...

Unless you are in FL! It's 80's today and the river is full of swimsuits and flip flops :)
In Tahoe when it's warm, but there's still snow on the ground, I go with closed toes no matter what. Last year in spring I wore rolled BF jeans with ballet flats and a cardi over a tee in 60+ temps with snow cover.

Well, it might come down to this one rule for me: No Sandals In Winter. Ever.

Lol.

I tend to avoid really out of season looks and go for a seasonless choice if I can. That's just personal preference, though. Colors are one way I do that but also fabric choices and silhouette. Clara mentioned northern CA which is where I am too, and one of my style goals for 2014 is to further develop my "calendar says summer, temp says winter" and "calendar says fall, temp says summer" capsules, because those two situations happen a lot here.

I think the only rule is don't wear sandals if your toes are looking ratty!

Seriously, that'd be the only thing stopping me if it was to hit 70s here. I usually only get pedicures in the warm months.

I agree with lyn about dressing for the seasons with colors more than styles.
Here in Northern California we had some days in the 70s and even low 80s in December, but (like you) I thought that a sundress would feel funny in December, even if it would be weather appropriate. So I wore darker colors (and my winter sandals ). Conversely, San Francisco can be *freezing* during the summer--yes, I have a summer down coat that is light colored.

We all have such different internal temperatures I say wear what works for you. Apart from a small summer (linen) capsule I do try to keep most of my clothes trans-seasonal & then add or subtract layers as required.

Oh heck, if I have a chance to wear a sun dress and sandals in the middle of Feb, I'd be out there with my shades and my sunhat.

There's few enough occasions in Canada to do that, that I will be in good company!

That being said, I think your outfit would be fine if your weather allows for it. I try to keep it a bit more "wintery" with subdued tones and colours.

Today, I was enjoying a beautiful day outside with my kids. Getting dressed for today took me awhile because I was thrown by the sunny 70's coming days after several inches of snow. In fact the remnants of the snow really didn't disappear until yesterday, so today seemed just bizarre.

However, it's pretty typical to expected the unexpected in my neck of the woods, at least weather wise.

I am just curious about what you guess consider the "rules" when dressing for very unseasonable weather (or are there rules?). For example, I wore a tee, cropped jeans, Tom style flats. I wanted to wear sandals but something told me it wasn't ok to wear sandals in February no matter what the thermometer says. I considered a jean skirt but felt that categorically shorts were inappropriate somehow. What do you guys say?
