Yay! I'm doing an internal happy dance; perhaps now I can wear my beloved styles without fear of twee-ness. The only one of these that isn't thoroughly represented in my closet is the flares & a couple of my wide legged trousers are flare-like enough for me.

Even though it's unlikely I'll be wearing any of these trends, along with plaid (thanks, 12 years of Catholic school uniforms!), they do celebrate the feminine spirit, and I will look forward to seeing them on others. Should be a pretty fall!

When this trends startwd showing I loved it and was looking for items that would have these details. However when Angie explained the various ways this could be seen I realized that I had a lot of them already in my closet.
I guess these details appeal to me and I never really let go of them.
Team pretty here I am :)
Angie, those outfits are beautiful .

There seems to be something for everyone within the context of these style details. I really loved the modern architectual ruffles in your post yesterday. All of a sudden, variations on the 70's look seem modern and retro at the same time. You are right. Our eye will adjust.

This is good to hear! Subtle ruffles and flounces, and bows in things like sash ties and on the toes of flats, feel so natural to me that I barely even notice them as design details as such, and I never stopped wearing them. Although a few things I had with that kind of lettuce-edge ruffle trim that was on cardigans and stuff a few years ago, and a dressy bag with a big decorative bow, started looking dated to me a while back and I got rid of them. I think ruffles especially work well on me because they echo my hair and my general feminine but slightly disheveled look.

I wouldn't mind a pair of flares if they're more on the bootcut end of the continuum, but it's not a huge priority. I definitely wore flares like that last time they were in, and they balance my hips nicely. Fringe? I like it on scarves, and could see myself maybe liking it as a detail on something else if it's subtle and not too '70s-looking.

No flares for me, thank you. Fringe - yes, on a pair of shoes, or maybe hanging from a sweater, or skirt.. Ruffles - only in very small amounts. My hair is wavy so it provides the flounce, but I don't mind a peplum either.

Nice to see how there are strong opinions from everyone on how to adopt or pass up these trends

Yes to fringe! I've always been on team fringe. And I like some ruffles when done in a soft, modern way. Also a bit of ruffle with some tailoring as counterpoint interests me as a styling idea.

I love ruffles but I am really looking forward to a little finge. I use to have a suede fringed jacket in the late 70's . I hadn't thought about it in years. Would love to find a modern version. I agree with the others it's all about the styling.

Yes to flares!

Not wild about the rest, personally, but the occasional ruffled item will appeal to me, if it's the right kind of ruffle. I think I now have one too with tiers that are basically ruffles, and one peplum top. Not big on bows at all, never have been. And I feel like a poser in fringe. Heh. But I'll rock some flares!

Until recently I was pretty closed minded about these kinds of details. Too feminine, too distracting, too..

But now I like them for the textural interest they can provide, and that little bit of embellishment. They're a lot less trouble to wear than jewelry!

I'm still wearing my bow blouse from - hmm - 4 years ago?

Lik Mariana I can remember the whole ruffle thing years ago on YLF - I think I only just got rid of some of my ruffled blouses from that era (in fact I'm wondering if I gave one to my daughter and could take it back!!)

Peplum tops appeal to me heaps but I am resigned to them not fitting my long torso.

I quite like some of the tailored 70's vibes. The 70's seems a better fit for my straighter body type than say, the 50's.

The Equipment one I saw in a more rocker look with Kate Moss that works quite well with black jeans.

I am unsure about fringe for me unless it is a fringed 1920s dancing dress!!

Yes to fringe and flare. They are close to my heart. I have a ruffled, plaid with lace trim shirt from 8 years ago that I have kept. I was never into ruffles or bows but this shirt is olive green and brown so grabbed me as I walked by. I mean when do you see brown lace? I guess it is a romantic poet shirt. It will get a showing soon.

I have never been into lady like or that kind of thing. So the bows, ruffles and flounces will have a small places in my wardrobe. I will have a small place though.

Love flare--never really completely let that go, so I'm all over that....
Fringe....have been seeing that around quite a bit in the stores, but it leaves me cold...just not me at this point.
Have loved the peplum/flounce looks but have yet to find one just right for my body and life; and ruffles I enjoy a little...but think at this point I might looks silly. Same with bows--NEVER liked them--if my mom were still alive she'd tell the story of me continually taking off my "bow patent leather" shoes because I hated that darn bow! Still find them too "twee" for me. Others can pull them off well. I like lady like very much, and pretty, but have to pair it with sleek and tailored. Awaiting more examples, with the caveat that it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind!!!

Interesting interpretations. While I see bows and ruffles to be very feminine and almost flirty, I find a peplum to be more sophisticated especially if it is in a fabric that drapes like silk.

Being more of a tailored girl, I can't see incorporating any of this in my wardrobe.

But I will. If the overall YLF rule is to have fun with fashion, my personal #2 rule is never say no to Angie. I may squirm today, but I'll be wearing a flounce or a fringe somewhere. Eventually!

I really want to see you in that second outfit, Angie -- it looks wonderful! I like the English-meets-Western equestrienne attitude it seems to exhibit. Sort of 70s, sort of now.
