Aida, I totally get the eclectic thing. Sometimes I want to look classy and lady-like, other times I want to look funky, and occasionally I even tip towards romantic. I do like to keep things relatively simple, whatever I do.

Putting in a quick note about what I use... it's more of a 3-D cube :} I'm a bit eclectic in my style, so limiting myself to a rubric just doesn't work for me. So instead I have three sets of things that I use to guide me: a list of specific elements/colors that I love (what you see in the "Aida list" links above), a set of style descriptors of my style goals (punk/urban, euro-chic, vintage), and a set of decades I find fashion inspiration from (40s, 60s, 70s, 80s). Some outfits skew more 70s+urban, others more 60s+euro-chic, etc. and all will include at least one item from my "elements of love" list. Maybe not the simplest system, but that's what works best for me.

Lol at 10 terms, Natalie! I started with 4, but when neither tailored nor structured seemed right, I ended up with fitted and added streamlined as an all encompassing term for non ALGO. So it was pure happenstance that I ended up at 5.

Mo, I think we all copied Shannon with the five terms. I thought that was part of the exercise! Five seems about right--I originally had ten terms and it was too hard to remember!

Oh, I've enjoyed this collection of lists! I think a rubric just might be easier than naming one's style.

I have mulled this over, and this is probably my rubric (from most important to least) (and yes, 5 terms did seem the right amount!):

1. No-fuss
2. Thermal
3. Off-Center
4. Hip
5. Frilly Girl

...Hmm. What a crazy list!

Mine is:
1. Color or contrast
2. Matchy Matchy
3. Pattern
4. Fitted
5. Flair

Here are some examples of outfits that match my rubric:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....d-new-list

The outfits that I feel the most fab in have most, if not all of these aspects in them. It also helps me figure out why certain outfits don't feel like me--like if it's lacking color or flair etc.

It's going to take me a while to articulate where I'm at, I guess. For now, I know that balance is key for me, like it is in almost everything. Balance between reason and passion, faith and science, your needs and my needs... In fashion: classic and funky, romantic and gritty, time-tested and surprising... I don't know: classic eclectic? That sounds good. (I know, you can't answer this. I haven't posted any pictures yet.)

Hey JR - this term was coined when a few of us starting talking about what elements in our outfits made that outfit work for us and made us feel good. Not individual items like this particular blouse or that particular skirt, but elements such as structure or colour.

I was working on honing in on my personal style and started to realize there were certain things that made me feel good. My rubric includes: structure, colour, classic, retro/vintage and urban. When I include one or more of these elements into an outfit, this is when I tend to feel the most like "me".

I hope this helps - I know Rae and Goldenpig (Natalie) also have rubrics, as well as a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
