Marianne, the jeans look fantastic on you! Sounds like you will get the alteration, it will be so much more comfortable and won't want to slide down.

Antje, thanks for the name of your tailor in Seattle. That sounds like a great price!! I was the one who had the bad alteration in a previous forum entry. It is a bit out of the way for me, but defintely worth it for good alterations on jeans.

Marianne, I think they only charged me $5 for this alteration at Adam Tailor last time I went. (Maybe I got a discount because I brought a lot of different alterations to them, but you can always ask. It's definitely cheap and they do a good job. I go to the one in Columbia City on Rainier Ave S., I think the other location is near Pioneer Square but am not sure.)

They look wonderful! For the alteration, what the tailor will (probably) do is remove the back centre belt loop, take out a triangle of fabric at the seam (like Antje said) and then sew the belt loop back on. That way you can't even tell that they were altered.

Angie, thank you for validation, and thanks everyone for the compliments! I should also mention that these jeans are very comfortable, in case anyone is considering them. The skinnies look has definitely grown on me. Docs are next on the list

Marianne, those jeans look incredible on you! The waist alteration is a fairly simple thing, you should definitely do it if they gape.

KILLER, Marianne. You chose the perfect size :-)

The length is fab. Have them altered at the waist for sure. These jeans do not grow!

Marianne, my jeans aren't the same brand as yours but I did eliminate the gap in the waist by going down a size. When I moved in the larger pair, I kept having to yank up the waistband. I thought there was absolutely no way I could wear the smaller size but it ended up working fine as it kind of conformed to my body as I wore them around the house. That being said, I think these jeans fit you very well and look wonderful! I don't think the length is bad and if you don't dry them, they shouldn't shrink.

If Antje has a reasonable alterations person, I would definitely try the waistband alteration if you decide this is the best overall fit for you. They look so great on you!

Thanks Antje! How much do you pay for this type of alteration?

San, actually I am a little concerned about the length too. I forgot to mention it in my original question.

They look awesome! If they don't stretch out I think they are perfect (and I assume they won't stretch out since it's premium denim, but I'm not personally familiar with the brand.)
Fixing the waistband gapping is an easy alteration. They create a little triangle in the back. Angie first told me about it and now I do it with most of my pants. It's make a huge difference and I can't believe I lived so long with gapping jeans! I take them to my tailor because they're cheap (I use "Adam Tailoring", they have two locations in Seattle.)

I went back to Nordstrom and picked up the Roxanne skinnies I had asked about before. All 7s were 30% off. Here are the pictures:

http://i293.photobucket.com/al.....G_5725.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/al.....G_5730.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/al.....G_5731.jpg

I haven't washed them yet. I went with the bigger size, because the smaller size was very tight and I couldn't even bend my legs. Angie and Julijuli, is this the way they are supposed to fit? You guys said they don't stretch out much. Or should I size down?

They also are gaping a little in the back. I was wondering if it's worth altering the waistband. I know it was discussed here before, but could anybody explain how that alteration works? And would I be better taking it to a tailor or back to Nordstrom?

Thank you!
