Karen I buy my glasses on line. I go to clearly.com and have not had any problems. Both pairs have been perfect. I made sure I did my research so I was very sure of what I was getting and they have an excellent return policy. My health insurance covers these as it would if I bought in a store. I have found the prices in speciality stores to be over the top and this has made it affordable for me to get exactly what I want. xx

1) Does anyone have experience with ordering frames from an online provider and having the lenses put in locally? Pitfalls?

I haven't , but have you asked about this at your local place, they may not want to incase of damage to the frames you provide, etc.

as i have a high index RX and a progressive I am very leary of going the online route for a frame , single RX would be fine.

Another vote for painted desert. The person I know with the best specs buys the frames in France or Italy and has the lenses put in at home. Ask your eye doctor about it. Tell him/her why their shop frames don't work for you. I found out that the doctor's wife picked out and ordered the shop frames. They were all black and she wanted to put me in black with rhinestones! Yuk!

Oh-- and I have absolutely bought my frames in one place and had lenses put in at a different place. I bought my last three frames in New York City and brought them home to Canada for my lenses, which were an extremely complicated progressive presecription (high myopia, combined with astigmatism and presbyopia). It was not a problem at all.

I missed your previous posts, but I went back and checked all your choices. I think the narrowed down choices are perfect because it goes with the curves and lines of your face & I prefer the Painted Desert on you, mainly because I see more gold in your hair color than ash (at least in the photos with the store lighting) - so it complements your coloring.

Speciality specs shops are often the best way to go, Karen. You MUST NOT SETLLE. I'm VERY glad you're going this route.

Thumbs up for "Painted Desert". Killer Perfect.

Thank you to all the commenters on my eyeglass frame post.
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....nses-for-n

Sooooo helpful, and the discipline of taking photos to post really helped me as well. It is very different to see a photo at leisure and compare side by side versus looking a mirror under time pressure at the doctors. I rejected a lot of things I though looked good at the store.

So far my best tip, besides tapping the wisdom of the forum, is to go a specialty shop if you have a difficult fit issue. I was really hard pressed to find anything at Lenscrafters small enough and none of them made the YLF honor list.

Of course, the YLF consensus favorite (the SALT Tish) is not carried by my new optometrist. I tried hard to find a suitable alternative - a less harsh color on the YLF second pick, but it was not meant to be. I think I will stick to my guns and get my favorite frame elsewhere and have them install lenses. No instant gratification today, but I am learning not to settle.

A few more questions:
1) Does anyone have experience with ordering frames from an online provider and having the lenses put in locally? Pitfalls?

3) My preferred frame (#1) comes in two colors I like: The one I modeled Ash Brown (#2), and what looks like a more burgundy color Painted Desert (#3). Is the Painted Desert likely to better on me? #4 is a rejected frame which was too wide which might be a similar color, although lighter at the bottom.

Thanks again for everyone's help on this. DH is trying, but lacks a certain diplomacy and openness to change. Fortunately he has many other sterling qualities.
