I have a limited number of pants, but lots of tops, so I will wear the same pants/jeans more than once a week. I try not to wear the same top two weeks in a row. This is mainly so I can force myself to try new combinations in my wardrobe. In the summer I wear skirts a lot, so I have lots more variety in my outfits.

I pretty much do what Ana does with the exception that I don't usually wear the same bottom twice in a week. This is not because I'm against it but because I have a weakness for bottoms and have many of them. I'm not sure how often I repeat an exact outfit, but I usually save doing that for the days when I'm in a hurry or don't want to think about coming up with an outfit. I used to be more concerned about wearing the same top often but since coming here and hearing Angie's mantra of buy things you love and wear them often, I've really tried to take that to heart. For example, I bought a black button down I love and I've been trying to make a point to wear it every week. I'm going to try to do this with my new vest too even though it is more of a statement piece.

Weekends are a different story. Since I'm casual with my kids then, I'm trying to have just 4 casual tops to rotate through on weekends with various bottoms. I've decided not to care that my neighbor might often see the same top on our regular play date as long as I know I look put together.

I've not really thought too much about it. I guess I do try to keep things fresh and mix it up. I won't wear the same outfit in a week. I probably don't wear the same outfit in the second week either, but a lot of that depends on what's clean and available to wear and how much time I have to be creative. I don't have a lot of pants right now that are good for me so the ones that are I tend to wear every week.

In general, I agree with Ana. I don't think most people pay attention unless it's a real statement piece.

Having the smallest wardrobe I've had since college, I often wear tops more than once a week and pants even more, but I don't see the same people every day except my family. I just have to be careful not to wear the same outfit on the same day of the week; and so I tend to keep remixing pieces in different ways.
I think most people don't notice what you wear so much as your overall appearence. The pieces I'm most careful about rewearing are prints or standout pieces that get noticed, so I tend to stay away from them.

I also mix and match my pieces week-to-week, but I hardly ever end up wearing the same exact outfit even over a month's time. Most of my clothes all coordinate with each other in some way, so the combos are always different. (Half my work closet goes with browns/tans, and the other half goes with blacks/greys.)

Weekends, though, do tend to rotate through favorites. One, because I have fewer casual/smart casual clothes, and two, because wearing a beloved favorite combo is a fashion version of comfort food, and when I'm not at work I like to treat myself to that.

Good question. I was going to ask the group this question. For work, I typically wait at least 2+ weeks before wearing the same outfit. However, I often mix and match my tops and bottoms, especially pants (I don't have 15 pairs of dress pants). That way it looks like I have a lot more clothes than I really do.

For weekends I am more likely to wear something more often. Sometimes if I wear a top that I love for just a few hours on Friday evening, I might wear it again thta weekend.

I have a small wardrobe and I usually don't wear the same top more than once a week, but otherwise I repeat outfits weekly. Sometimes I vary the combinations but without any system. I think it also depends on your work environment, how many people see you every day, how regularly they see you, do you work with custoemrs, etc. At my office no one would care if I wore the same thing every day so I might be more lax about it than I should be

Nicole -- I try not to wear the exact same outfit two weeks in a row. I'll wear the same pieces but combine them differently. I worry about it less now that I don't work in an office because I don't see the same people every day. When I did I found that I got to know everyone's wardrobe pretty well -- but I never really noticed if someone wore something again soon unless it was the very next day or something really noticeable.

Hi Nicole, this is something I tend to think about too.

I personally would not wear the same top combos one week as I did the previous.
I usually do not even wear same bottoms I wore last week. But please keep in mind, I have a lot of clothes so i can easily do that. But I will wear basics, like white button down shirt, layered under different items, in successive weeks.

I will wear the same tops with different bottoms from week to week. I don't usually wear the same top twice in one week, unless I wear it in two different ways, layered under different sweaters or jackets or something. I'll wear the same bottoms multiple times in one week though. Honestly, I don't notice if someone is wearing the same top more than once a week unless it is a real showstopper. I doubt anyone notices if I wear the same top twice in a week either.

Statement pieces should probably be kept to once a week. Dresses, too, if they have a print, since those tend to stand out more, I think.

How often do you rewear the same outfit or combination of shirt/sweater or jacket? If you wear a certain top one week, would you wear it again the following week with a different bottom?

I try really hard not to wear the same thing more than once or twice a month--but I wonder if this is an unnecessary task. Do people really remember how recently you wore something?

Just curious...
