Great finds! I think the Guess shoes will be great to go with a lot of things for going out, a cute dress, with jeans and a fun top, etc. The black ones will be a little tricky - I can't do these ankle straps, but they will definitely be cute peeking out from pants and when you cross your legs they will be a fun surprise! I have one friend that looks great in these kinds of shoes, but she has such skinny calves and is very tall!

The nude heels are fun. Practice walking in them at home. You could really wear them with almost anything as long as you have ppl - skinny's or skirts would probably be good. wide-legs or bootlegs are probably out because of ppl (your normal inseam +5"!!)

The cage heels can be problematic. Make sure they don't cut you off at the ankle. I can see wearing them jeggings, but skirts could make you look really short.

I'm thinking of how many total inches off the ground I've hoisted myself, Sinead; probably I should be subtracting the platform in front instead... but it still feels wobbly to me! They're probably not so bad for an experienced wearer of heels.

Ross is worth the trouble to me only because I go right by on other errands and we currently have several shoe consumers in this household beside just mommy. Some really great things show up now and again. My 15 year old daughter is still kicking herself for not saying yes to some Ugg ballet flats I showed her last year. They were buff colored suede with bronzey gold Chanel toes and she just couldn't wrap her 8th grade mind around them. Now, as a freshman in h.s. she realizes what a great basic they could have been... Woulda, coulda, shoulda... And my eight year old wears almost exclusively Ross shoes because every time I turn around she needs a new size!

I absolutely adore those nude platform sandals. Is the heel really that high? From the photos it looks like the platform makes it a wearable height. Or maybe I'm just talking myself into them because I love them! I can't be much help with the black cage shoes- for me, they would have to be pants only.

I never have any luck at Ross but I'll be checking out their shoes more often, now that you've shown me these.

I can't wear heels (sobbing) so I can't offer any advice but I just want to say how much I love, love these shoes and can't wait to see you wearing them.

Have you ever gone over to Polyvore to look at the sets people put together? I only recently discovered it and it's great fun to see what people dream up. Of course, some are way outlandish but you can get some ideas. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/sh.....+platforms

Hi there! I trolled around Ross yesterday and got lucky in the shoe department. Ross is so hit or miss. Like a never-been-worn-before thrift store. You just need to keep an open mind and pack plenty of patience...

So these two types of shoes were on my "list" for this year -- Lucky brand Lacey strappy "cage" style black sandals, and some Guess nude patent platform pumps. The black sandals are my true everyday heel height of 2-3" while the nude peeptoes are a more aspirational 4-5" when you calculate in the platform boost. I'll just wear them for a special date or occasion, which makes the fact that I got them marked down to $15 even better! I now have a little mini-collection of black satin, brown tiger, and nude patent stilettos which means I'm pretty much covered for any cocktail or semi-formal setting. And my husband really, really loves it when I wear high heels. They're just so girly I guess.

I'm a little worried the thick ankle straps on the caged pair will make my legs look stumpy, but they are such a great colorway (a gunmetal gray that is almost but not quite black and subtly metallic) and so comfortable I won't mind if they just end up being worn with jeans and khakis.

How do you guys style your nude platforms or cage heels around here? They are both new to me looks and I'm eager to try them out. L.
