Try a chunky Y-chain necklace that compliments the V-neck of the top.

Ana, I think a simpler cardi would look best with that top. There is enough detail to the top that having more detail ontop with the shawl collar cardigan might be too much. (Though I do like the first cardi, I just think it'll be too much with that particular top.)

Patience, I know what you mean about the outfit lacking something. I feel that way about my outfit as well. I am always cold inside, so a cardigan is very practical for me. Outside though, I would definitely take it off. It was muggy here the other day, wasn't it! Blah.

Anyway, I think that you're on the right track with accessories, and Angie brings up a good point about prints. I'm more of a solid color girl myself--I rarely find a pattern that I really like. I do like your idea of a chunky necklace--I tried it myself to begin with and it just didn't work, like yours, but I think the right necklace style is out there, we just need to find it. I bet a longer necklace would look good as well. I decided that metallic shoes would be the way to go, and I liked Tanya's suggestion of the natural wood jewelry. Ivory jewelry would be nice too. I think with simple summer tops in our climate, your accessory decisions need to be very deliberate, because they are what really spice up your outfit. Does this make sense?

You could always try the top in a pattern.

Ana, I am wearing something similar today-- if not in color, certainly in silhouette. I think this brings up a good point. I think you look great and that this is a solid silhouette. However, as I was getting dressed this morning, I was feeling that my outfit was slightly lacking-- nice but a bit plain. Maybe you felt this way too. I considered a cardigan but in the midst of trying to get the kids ready and into the car and faced with the lovely mugginess, I just didn't bother. I tried to spice it up with a necklace but I only have a couple of chunky ones that didn't work. I was imagining a long bead and chain necklace and got close with what I have in my wardrobe. But what I'm wondering is that at some point, I might not want to even think about jackets and cardigans for layering because of the heat. I'm stocking up on blousie tops but I also have some wider leg pants that I like to pair with close fitting knits. I'm wondering how to make these outfits pop without the jacket layer? I'm guessing accessories which I do need to work on.

You look wonderful Ana!

You need a cheeky cardigan with that outfit. Cropped and tailored. More like the J Crew one and Tanya makes super suggestions. Love the idea of it paired with walk shorts and gold flats. Chunky beaded necklace perhaps?

Ana, that outfit is totally adorable! You look great!
I personally like the JCrew cardi better, but I could be subjective since I generally shy away from fuller ones like the first one. It would look cute on, but it would depend on where it hits you. I think you could also wear it with your new Boden jacket.
I love the white walk shorts/gold flats idea. You could even wear espadrilles with that!
I think you could also substitute the brown cami for cream one. Maybe you could also add some thin summer scarf in print that incorporates pink, cream and brown.
Or a printed cardi in those colors. If you like wearing them, some goldtone or wooden bangles would work ( but no necklace then). And brown tortoise sunglasses for outside.

So, here's what I wore today. The shirt is actually more rose colored than bright pink like it appears in the picture. I've layered it over a dark brown lace cami (which I'm not sure you can really see--it barely peeks out). Dark trouser jeans and cream embroidered heels. Gold filligree jewelry:

http://i66.photobucket.com/alb.....0014-2.jpg

It reached 90 degrees here today and was very humid, hence the fuzzy hair. I didn't black out my face today because I wore earrings that I think lent a lot to the outfit. It was kind of chilly inside though, so I'm thinking I need a cream cardigan to wear over this outfit. I found this one at White House Black Market that I like:

http://www.whitehouseblackmark.....38;inSeam=

I thought it might look nice belted over the ensemble. Another possibility would be this ivory cardigan from J. Crew , which I love and have in brilliant blue:

http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/p.....=cat301170

The plus to this is that it would be easy to take on and off from inside to outside. The down side is it's 3/4 sleeves and it's merino wool (albeit, light weight wool).

Anything you feel I could add this outfit? When it gets hotter I'm thinking of wearing it with tailored white walk shorts and gold ballet flats. That might be my "summer uniform."
