Maybe I’d have to invest the time in watching to see what you mean. But comedy or not, a movie that rotates around the point that this woman is a heartless bitch because she can be just sounds more misogynistic than I can get into. </p> <p>My son has read and watched The Handmaid’s Tale for school. The use of props (smoothies, fire extinguishers ) as "weapons" and the costumes (not just Marla's) nodded to this. A la Coen Brothers etc. I thought it was quite hilarious at times, albeit preposterous . My husband had experience with guardianship for his parents. His father refused to allow him to be his guardian, but accepted a paid guardian (who was wonderful, actually)...ugh, and he was his mother's guardian. We learned a lot about how powerful guardianship is at that time. So, I found the premise truly horrifying! When it turned into the action portion it felt pretty absurd, so it was more of a curiosity to see how it would end. Truly disturbing topic and premise, however, a real highlight is Rosamund Pike's wardrobe (and her performance). One of the outfits reminded me so much of Angie - a yellow pants suit with white platform sneakers, sunglasses, no accessories! Lots of bright, primary colors.
