I have never tried any footwear before. The girl from the store swears by hers. There is no lining and she did tell me that they will stretch out. I was tempted to try a larger size but she said they will end up too big. They are not heavy at all.</p> <p>Fern- I woudl love a sleeker pair in black too but I haven't fond the right ones yet. I'm a bit fussy as I do not really like zippers on my boots unless part of the style. I do love a pair of Fryes but they are so pricy. As for the quality, it is likely to be high. I had a pair of Roots shoes years ago and really loved them; ditto a bag I used to have from them. Very rugged and long-lasting. </p> <p>Some questions to ponder? Are they lined or not? You might want to ask about stretching (i.e. some boots without lining will stretch more; that might not be a good thing). The leather is a bit more uniform in colour that they look. The are buttery thick leather.
