It was a maxi skirt that was really lacy. I saw in the reviews that people were pretty much having it shred within a few hours of putting it on—the skirt was just too delicate to be worn, period! So I would be hesitant even to hand-wash the BR skirt. There's just too much that can go wrong. I think that BR's garment care labels are pretty much spot-on (forgive the pun); I haven't found them to be overly restrictive in the recommended care just to cover themselves. </p> <p>I think if you want the skirt and can get it on sale, it might be neat to try. Since the inside is lined, you could just wipe down the lining with the damp cloth, maybe with a little detergent on it, in lieu of a complete wash. I think it is made from a base of Sloan fabric, with a lace overlay on top. You should be fine to handwash it. Remove from washer using gilded tongs, then dry flat in 45% humidity with a 5 knot wind. Skirt should be facing in a westerly direction.
