Northampton is much closer to I-90 than Deerfield is.

Thanks ladies!

Ummilla, I haven't been to that town off I91, but I have been to Yankee Candle's Flagship store in Deerfield, also off I91 - is it as far as that?

Diana, that area in Mass. is about an hour's drive from where I am in NY and DH and I take day trips there often. The Clark is wonderful, when I was teaching HS I took my students there for a day trip. The hiking is fabulous in that area, have you ever been to Bish Bash falls? There's also Bash Bish falls. Both are close to the Mass./NY border. If you head on over to Stockbridge, there's a cute little restaurant, Once Upon a Table, that serves delicious chowder. Then right outside from there is Peace, Love, and Chocolates for some fab chocolate candies. Hum...that might be the first stop on our travels :)

Northampton is my favorite place in Western Mass. It's just a short hop north up I-91 from the Mass Pike. Amanouz Cafe for Moroccan food. Cathy Cross and Eileen Fisher for shopping. All within a couple blocks radius.

Ooh, I am in Western MA right now! (So, basically exits 1 and 2 on I90 in MA.) There's loads of fun things to do in the Berkshires, but here are a few of my favorites:

Tanglewood - summer home of the boston symphony, if you like classical music; next weekend is officially the end of the BSO season but they also do other shows here as well. Or just come some afternoon and enjoy the grounds/have a picnic. I don't think they allow dogs though. :( http://www.bso.org/brands/tang.....rview.aspx

Go to Bartlett's Apple Orchard for the best cider donuts EVER:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/bartletts-orchard-richmond

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. Totally a hidden gem. It's in the middle of a kind of abandoned looking industrial area, and you'd never know it was there. But the food is AMAZING and the restaurant is super cute. They don't take credit cards, and don't try to go without a reservation.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/elizabeths-pittsfield

There's loads of great hiking trails of all difficulties and lengths. I like mount greylock a lot - usually you can drive up to near the summit and do short trails around the top if you don't want to spend all day hiking. This site has trail maps for greylock and other areas:
http://www.bnrc.net/

There are many cute little towns to explore as well. I like Great Barrington a lot. I also like Williamstown, which is a little bit north from I90 and home of Williams College. The Clark Museum, which is great, is also located here.
http://www.clarkart.edu/

DH just told me he has gotten a few more days (5) off, so our road trip to Maine has just been extended - now we have some time to spend in places along the route to Maine. Basically we are going from NY through MA on I90 and on up along the I95 corridor through NH to ME. Does anyone know of any good places/towns to visit and spend a few days at along that I95 route in NH? Or on the I90 route headed from west to east in Mass.?

All suggestions/recommendations are appreciated!
