I cant say which one I like best (aspects of both... i suppose) but I really wanted to comment to say i appreciate these educational threads. I am probably in the market for replacement white jeans soon so having some leads on brands and thinking about what to look for is so very helpful (I am definately joining you on team rearview for my shopping priorities).

Just chiming in to say that I love my AG "The Legging" jeans. I have them in two washes. The yoke is angled and so are the pockets. I'm not an expert on the rear view, but these seem to be flattering. My main concern is that a jean doesn't give me the dreaded Long Butt. The legs are very, very slim. "The Stilt" jeans by AG are still skinny, but have a little more room and fit me more like straights. Good luck with your quest!

I really have a hard time saying one looks better than the other, you look great in either one.

But I admit to not being much of a RR. I avoid my rear view as much as possible. Flat butt + saddlebags + crooked spine = a disastrous rear view, no matter what. I prefer to live in denial. (Why can't some celebrity make saddlebags the new sexy thing to have?)

I guess you decided to return both but if you're interested in an opinion for future jeans shopping, I am with ManidipaM in that I prefer #2 over #1. I don't mind a boxier/square shape, and I see no flattening. But #1 does look curvier if that's your aim. So I think Angie is right they both work and it could just be that you're lucky enough to have a backside that can project a variety of different looks and shapes, equally well. Work it, girl!

If #2 did slide down that would drive me insane, I try to avoid that at all costs but usually you can't tell until you've worn the jeans for a good 8 hours.

(And whoever said J Lo's main cultural contribution was to validate the fuller booty had me in stitches!)

So interesting. Before looking at this set of pictures, I would have said pocket placement over yoke. After all, that's what I noticed in your other thread and preferred the rear view of the skinnies there. But, now that you mention the yoke and I am looking for that, I do see the "squaring" effect of the straight yoke and cannot unsee it. I think I am a convert and have a slight preference for #1 now, although your butt looks great in both.

Pockets trump yoke in my book except for very unrounded rears trying to add curves. (Though I have worn no-pocket, which in my book trump poor placement.)

And sure enough, swimming against the tide, I *much* prefer #2.

I just caught up on your other white jean thread and there and here I preferred the straight legs from the front AND back (#1 photo here) by a pretty substantial margin.

LOL to to being a discerning RR!

IMO, pocket placement is everything. Size, width, length and even angle. That said, I really like both pairs and your rear looks fab, truly. :)

Have you seen this? It's pretty outdated now and not exactly addressing your issue, but it's hilarious and touches on concepts close to the RR's heart:
http://www.graspingforobjectiv.....-butt.html

Catnip, believe me, it's mind numbing even for a long time riveting rearsider like me. I thought I'd had it all down with the right rise and pockets close enough. Then came the straight yoke to thwart me! That is what I feel make the jeans look like they're sliding. At this point, I've got them both packaged to return That makes me 0 for 5 in the white jeans search this season. I hate online sometimes . . .
At least I am certain I want a 10" leg opening, maybe up to 12" but that's the max. I'll get there. My pair has to be out there.

I'm far from an expert on jeans and almost decided not to comment. However, for what it's worth, I think #1 looks much better. The overall shape is better, somehow more rounded. I may be imagining it, but the jeans in #2 look like they might slide down.

The subtleties of jeans selection are overwhelming me! Pocket placement? Yoke shape? And flat butt - is that supposed to be good or bad? I was loving my new boyfriends, but am now afraid to look at them from behind. Of course I looked at them many times before cutting off the tags, but maybe I didn't know what I was looking for. I may never be able to buy another pair of jeans!

Gryffin, the first ones are straight leg and I think I have preference for skinny, which is pair #2. I might have to bite the bullet and order a few full price pair from Nordie's and just pick from them. Maybe the AG legging http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ag.....ts-_-1_7_C

Mo - I think both jeans look good but I think #1 is slightly more flattering..but it's by a small margin. Question? How is the fit of the rest of the jean? My issue is there are so many crucial fit points with jeans that if they are really comfoftable, right rise, right length, no pulling in the front, good quality and look nice behind - unless we are the fit model is may not be possible to have every tiny detail perfect. So if it were me I would weight how close are they to the ideal? Don't know if that helps. Best of luck on the quest but I think you look great!!

Yes, I totally get the 'uplifting' you're talking about. And Liz, lol on bigger is better. For years I thought my bottom half was too big, lucky me when J. Lo turned things around for us
Hmm, now I wonder if I should hold out for the right combo of pockets and yoke . . .

Diana, yes, pockets too far apart are a deal breaker. My current blingy white jeans have this issue. I'm starting to think I need to be more PPP and return these both.
