Well, it looks terrific, but I understand how it may not work for you. Too bad it’s the smallest size and still doesn’t fit.

Thanks Angie and Suz. The length might have been ok but it had to come in about2-3 inches at the waist too which threw the panels off. But at least now I have an idea of what to look for!

I like the length, too! But you should definitely return if it doesn't meet your needs.

Mine is too big (wide) for me, too, but I decided to keep it anyway because it actually provides more coverage and I can add a bit of velcro to the waist to secure it more snugly.

It looks good on you, although it is long. Hard to see clearly in the dark color. You are right to send it back if it doesn't meet your needs.

I bought this skirt a couple of weeks ago--the same pattern Suz got. I thought I was getting the blue print, but it showed up in black, which I decided is okay. Surprised to find that it fits me very well. I think it will be great for really hot days. And a swimsuit cover if I ever get to go anywhere again.

Just to update- I bought the black long (length 3) and it would be terrific for travel. Only problem was it was too wide and too long, and costs of alterations would likely be more than skirt, so I returned it. Here is pic of how I might have styled it (note I would wear this for travel- my husband and I are strictly carry on only, and often tack a 3 day city trip onto an active vacation).

What am I missing about these? They seem to me like wrap skirts, made of technical fabric (or maybe not, based on Joy’s comment). Is there something else going on with them? https://ripskirthawaii.com/collections/all

Joy, that print is really cute.

A midi version in a tropical floral arrived. It is not as long on me as I feared but I feel co reed even sitting in a lounge chair with my feet up. It does not look good with my tankini top as I do hoped it would but I will be able to wear a variety of other tops with it. My biggest problem with this skirt is the fabric. It is a very polyestery polyester, therefore too warm on a hot day. My linen pants worn earlier were cooler and more breathable. So is silk.
It would be a good travel piece. I would buy it again for that reason, only in a plain color like black. I like travel pieces that can be used in different ways. This can be a swim suit cover up and a casual skirt to wear to a pub or even sight seeing.

I think it depends on the pattern, the length, and what you pair it with.

I have the midi in two patterns—the boho teaberry (a coral-pink shade) and the green. Paired with a tucked in sleeveless silk blouse and sandals there are very few restaurants in DC where I wouldn’t wear that outfit. In most restaurants in my Capital Hill neighborhood, I’d wear the midis more casually with an untucked topper and my Gizeh Birkenstocks.

I have the black, which may read as dressier than the brights. It just arrived so wore yesterday for the first time. A friend came over for hiking and archery- perfectly fine for those!

That said, I'd wear it to a restaurant (when that's a thing again...), but not a formal one. A chain type place, like Olive Garden or such, or any sort of place with outdoor seating- definitely. A place where men would wear a suit and or tie, no. But there's silk, satin, lace and velvet for those places

I'd probably wear it to work too, business casual, with a blouse and heeled sandals.

I own it. I would wear it to a restaurant. I *did* wear it to a restaurant! Not for a truly "fancy" occasion, mind you -- this was patio dining. :)

But if the fit is half decent you can certainly wear it out. It's not occasion wear, i.e. I wouldn't choose it for a cocktail party, a wedding, or a meal at a higher end place. But I would wear it comfortably to a more casual venue or even a bistro with the right footwear/ top etc.

Mine isn't the black version -- I don't know how the fabrication looks when it is not in a pattern. I believe suntiger got it in black.

It's meant to be a casual item but it does have crossover potential.

My take, having tried it but not kept it (might try again if they come out with that mythical in-between length) would be, maybe so, maybe not depending on what you mean by "nice" restaurants and the look you are going for.
To me some of that depends on its actual fit on individual people--if you get an excellent wrap fit and elegant but not overwhelming length and get a solid color or neutral-ish print and wear dressier footwear, then yes. OTOH it can fit somewhat lumpy-casual and look mostly beachy-wrap, which again, would be perfectly fine at most restaurants nowadays but might not be the same as a truly "dressy" look. There might be other travel skirts which work better for that. To me the ripskirt advantage is if do want to wear it where it might get wet , or over swimsuit, or from pool to casual restaurant, or simple walk along the beach or something, due to the ability for some movement.

Others who have actually been wearing it will have some other input for sure.

I am very curious about the rip skirt. I bought a below-the-knee satin skirt for travel (in black- idea was to pack several blouses to wear dressed down with black pants/flats and dress up with skirt/heels).
Would the rip skirt be dressy enough to wear with nice blouse for dinners at nice restaurants? Thank You
