I have found that I don't mind repeating great outfits; I'm not really that concerned with being able to mix and match. The only time I get concerned about making multiple outfits from a given piece is if I find that I have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear because the closet is full of orphans. I'm actually starting to get into orphan territory because I gained some weight and outgrew a LOT of my bottoms, and now I need to find new bottoms to go with the tops. A little while back I posted this WIW with a jacket that is not versatile for me, but it's so successful for one or two outfits that I keep it. I will never wear it weekly, but I'll keep it for a long while and enjoy the limited number of wears it gets. I need this!</p> <p>One thing I tried this weekend is putting together what ought to be the <u>very</u> most flattering way to utilize a give item--say a jacket or a pullover.<br />So, carefully choosing&nbsp;bottoms--pants and/or skirt--and footwear, &nbsp;and tights if needed,&nbsp;so that the supporting act had all the elements of what makes me happy and confident, no&nbsp;"distractors" as it were. </p> <p>Then see if my reaction is, " I can't wait to wear this&nbsp;in the&nbsp;coming week" vs., hmmm, looks nice....&nbsp;</p> <p>This is a lot like just "setting the bar" high enough, but it created a kind of roadmap for me to follow, in which the idea is not to see how <u>many </u>ways I could wear something, but if there were at least <u>one</u> super way. Then it's always a choice or issue as to whether that way is useful or imaginary, or is enough to earn its keep, or whether it's not versatile enough, A different, though important, element. </p>
