Just echoing what MsVee said. You have to very careful with upper buckle details. I snagged my favorite pair of stockings that way.

I'll await for clear pictures to give you a comment.

By the way , have you tried the Miz Mooz brand? They run really narrow. That's why I've never been able to buy a pair.

See a few on sale here:

I'm an equestrian. We are incredibly picky about our boot fit and spend an awful lot of money on our boots--fortunately I have off the shelf legs, but a new pair of dressage boots is still going to run me around $700, and lots of us have to go custom to get a decent fit. However, a really good cobbler can do wonders with minor adjustments like gussets and narrowing the shaft of a boot if it has a back seam.

For boot eye-candy take a look at the Der Dau website... they will make pretty customs for you. ( I have a gorgeous pair of Der Dau black calfskin field boots that fit like they were made for me that I bought at a garage sale almost brand new for $10 a few years ago. I'm scared to wear them because I don't want to wear them out!)

These look great to me, Kristine. And what a great suggestion from Claire! Boot alterations; who'd have thought of it?

I must say it is a pleasure to see you post! And I really hope these boots work out for you. You've been incredibly patient.

Those are really sharp Kristine. The look a lot tighter (better fitting) in the first picture than the second to me. Are the buckles not tightened in the second picture? I noticed they have the full length zipper, so a cobbler could take the shaft in if you don't want the curved back you were talking about. Good job on the PPP!

I think these are lovely. Not too rugged at all. The fit at the top looks good to me. And i am pretty picky about gap at the top of a boot.

Thank you for the comments! Taylor, you're so kind!!

Angie, they are leather, not synthetic (I believe it's the sole that's listed as synthetic). I think there might be a shadow in the photo, and there is a cat door right behind me which might be playing tricks. I'll get a clearer photo and post it.

I think the fit looks fine. My only comment would be regarding the buckles at the top. If you wear them with tights, and you cross your legs, the buckles will snag your tights. I have a similar pair, and learned this the hard way!

Kristine, I really like the way they fit close-up (#1). Why is it that the boots look too tall in the photo that's taken from a distance? (#2) Are those shadows playing tricks with my eyes?

And how do you feel about the synthetic leather?

They don't look too rugged at all!

I feel for you, I never realized how much calf circumference mattered until I went on a boot hunt! I echo what Una says, pic 1 looks fine at the top of the boot but you definitely have some bunching happening. Are they comfy to walk in? Can you feel the folds inside the boot? It's a very attractive boot and would certainly be appropriate with dresses and skirts. Let us know what you decide:)

Two years! Now that's PPP! I think they're beautiful, but I have to say I returned a pair of boots because of bunching around the ankle, which I see in your first picture. Is that just in the photo? If not, is it going to bother you? I know calf and ankle fit are hard to get perfect from my own boot struggles... They certainly look dressy to me because of the shiny finish.

I hope others chime in here with more expert opinions.

I've been looking for two winters now and I think I might have found them. But I also think I'm delirious at this point so I need your honest opinions. The back has a flap which can be adjusted with buckles, I would need to add a hole for the tightest adjustment. This causes the back to curve, but it fits my leg and I think it looks fine.

The other really critical question is, do these work dressed up? I really want them for skirts and dresses for work (I don't expect them to work with suits), so if they're too rugged please tell me. Thanks!!
