I'm still stewing over TNF coat. I tried the small on with my pajama top, a cashmere sweater and a cotton field jacket layered together. It's an odd mix, but they were handy first thing this morning. The small size still fit over everything, although snugly. Not uncomfortable. I could still move my arms and sit down. The medium fit over everything with room to spare. I'm often left wondering sometimes if I should purchase two sizes of something. In this case, the smaller for the times when I plan to wear fewer layers, because the medium looks ridiculously large without multiple items layered, and then the medium for days when I want the layers?

Confession time: I do it with on occasion with jeans and skirts because a few pounds up I fit the larger size, a few pounds down, the smaller. I must fall right on the border between sizes! How unfair! I also think the way clothes fit may depend on what type of workout cycle I'm on. Sometimes my leg muscles are larger and other times more streamlined, etc.

That's interesting about the North Face dove grey coat. In pictures it looks better than the other grey, called medium grey heather. Also interesting about the sleeves. I think my arms are just average.

Colette and all, the Frame blouse runs large. I ordered a small and will probably size down if I decide to keep it, although it is okay as is for wearing under a blazer which is my intended purpose.

Brilliant idea with the Marc Jacobs cardi. I have a jar full of cool buttons. I think I'm going to do that!

WOOHOOO. I'm flattered, Staysfit. It's the most gorgeous gillet. I bet you look stunning in it.

And I bought the north face puffer too - for walking to and from yoga.

Happy to hear that the Boss top worked out. Your colours!

I'm not Staysfit, but I posted a photo of the Frame silk blouse in my try-on post, and I think it runs big. I am a 10/12 and was able to fit a M easily. I'm interested in the blood orange color, too, but I've never seen it in real life.

Another set of great picks and very helpful reviews. I have been eyeing that Frame Silk blouse in the blood orange color. How does the size run?

I tried the TNF coat and my Mom wanted me to get it in orange. It's a great gear coat for sure, I've been trying to justify the purchase though. I have a lot of coats, but none in orange. I felt I could go with the small or medium, the SA and my Mom thought the small was best on me though. Still considering it.

You got some nice items, the vest must look fab on you and I love the tops as well. I think structured or semi-structured pieces suit you very nicely.
Do you think that lightweight and fitted North Face jacket will be warm enough for your area? The brand is good so maybe it will provide but can the advertised warmth be real? I think it also comes in a regular gray which is nice. I did not like much the dove gray from what I saw on the web.
I am happy to see that gray cardigan as I have a similar cashmere one from several years ago with regular buttons, I am not into the buttons as showed. Different buttons should be cuter than the next and those are not.

Suz, I was thinking the same thing regarding Una's comments about sizing, although I do have several TNF jackets/coats that I have sized up to a medium. It does get cold here as I'm sure it does in Alaska, and I definitely wear layers. I am thinking of using this particular this particular coat for the fall, before it gets too cold and snowy. I think it's perfect for walking around the neighborhood with my dog, with my neighbor and DH, and possibly going to the mall and grocery store. My guess is that I will be wearing gear underneath, and that tends to be thin and lightweight even when layered.

Lisa, I had no problem getting the Vince sweater over my head. I'm guessing it may be a little smallish, but it's hard for me to gauge. My head is smaller than average. I fit children's hats and glasses. Most standard adult hats are too big. The brain inside seems to work fine though - at least it serves me well!

Staysfit, THANK you. Fabulous reviews. I really love reading these -- it's so instructive to hear from forum members.

Una, here's the thing. Staysfit is probably nearly a foot taller than you, but her shoulders are probably a lot narrower, and she tends to like tailored fits whereas you prefer oversized/ loose on top. Plus you need to layer.

SO glad to hear about that double zip -- I don't think I'll order now but I might consider this for later.

Meanwhile, look at these amazing items. SO glad you got the gilet -- it was made for your body type and you will look amazing in it!! Fabulous piece that even though subtle will also be a conversation starter.

I love the Boss blouse for you and hope to see it on you soon. I predict that with your grey hair the higher contrast will work, in particular with your glasses. I have found with grey that I can take (and even need) more contrast than before. I know our colouring is not identical (I was typed as a cool summer before YLF when my hair was still blonde...but am probably more of a "cool" summer-winter now) but even so. Can't wait to see this.

I really like the other blouses, too, but I know what you mean about the sizing. I'm sized out of the Pleione line, pretty much...probably the NYDJ's also.

I'm going to buy the orange North Face in this longer length when it hits our local store NF in August . I find North Face a bit of an odd fit but I have this in the jacket version and love it . I was eyeballing the Vince sweater today in a slightly different version - not a hoodie and didn't have the kangaroo pocket , but same colour and probably part of the same delivery . I still may go back and try it on- but my question is this : how big was the neck opening ? Hard to get over your head ? The sweater I was looking at looked to have quite a high and narrow opening ....

I tried on the Trouve floral print tank in-store, and it did cover my bra (I'm very small-busted though). I wasn't too fond of the athletic ribbed trim but the style is very cute.

YAY! I realized I never answered your double zip question, but now you know. I would never buy one without it. I got a M - the sleeves are a wee bit long, but aren't you like a foot taller than me? I need to layer quite a bit in winter so sizing up was the way to go.

Wow! Nordies is packing and shipping as fast as I can select and push a button! We all know that's much too fast! :-)

After my Zero and Maria Cornejo dress confusion. Which still continues, I had the mini epiphany that I look best in my sheath dresses, and that structured items are among my most flattering looks. I also realized that I could wear a medium navy blue. So, when I saw Angie's Gilet, I decided to stretch my fashion wings and give it a try. It's a darker inky shade, but I think I can pull it off! I love it, and it is absolutely gorgeous. So, Angie, if you are reading this, imitation is indeed the highest form of flattery. I sized up to one size larger than my typical for Rag and Bone, which often runs big on me, but the fit recommendations all said it ran small. It may need some taking in, but minor. I think the smaller size would have been too small.

The North Face poly fill gear coat. The dove gray is an almost yellow gray. I am not fond of the color, it's not at all what I anticipated. The blue is also not quite what I anticipated but I like it. The small seems large and roomy to me.

Suz, if you are reading this, it absolutely has a two way zipper at the bottom. I knew it would. Even though it says it's the equivalent of 600 fill down, this jacket is lightweight and sublimely fitted. When I sized up to the medium the sleeves were long on me. That's a rarity, so the sleeves must be very long. I have swimmers arms. They are long.

Trouve floral top - this was a beautiful top. The side has cut out panels. There is a small strip which I hoped would be more substantial, to cover my bra. It didn't. I think putting something under the top might ruin it's looks. It's a great top for someone younger who doesn't mind baring more skin and showing off their bra.

Frame ruffle collar top - I like this best when it's tied so the collar is shut. I like this top. There is nothing special about it quality wise. It is well made but I have white silk tops of better quality for which I paid less money. The selling point is the collar detail. I have tried another top with this detail but the silk wasn't as substantial. For this design, it's the best I've seen so far.

Plaid shirt - nothing special here. The material is okay. It was fairly soft. It was thin. I have plaid shirts I like better and would never reach for this over them so it's going back.

Thermal Henley - I found this too large and too thin. I am looking for something warmer for my lounge wear. This could be nice for layering though or in a warmer climate. I'm returning.

Boss printed top - this top goes with the Boss ensemble that I am planning to keep. I am surprised how much I like the style. There is a high low effect, the clasp hardware is high quality, and could be a piece of jewelry because it is so cool looking, the print is probably too high contrast for me. I'm not sure. I need to post pics and get some opinions. The dark shade isn't black, I believe it's ink blue, and it also has some grey, which made me very happy. It's hard to see on my monitor, so I was pleased because my winter palette is very blue and grey dominant.

NYDJ and Plieone tops - Print tops like this are not my typical go to item. I am more of a solids person, although I like scarves, so I am thinking of these like scarves. I like the idea of wearing these under a jacket. These colors are perfect for my wardrobe, and one of them helped rescue a wardrobe orphan. These run big. I sized down one full size, otherwise arm and neck openings were too large and there was too much material.

Vince hoodie vest - It's a hoodie! It's a vest! Check! Check! All good. It's not the very best cashmere I have seen but it isn't bad either. The fit is not overly baggy in my opinion because the wide band at the bottom reigns everything in and gives it structure. I love the sleeves. It looks great with the majestic turtleneck in grey and my high waisted denim skinny jeans.

Marc Jacobs sweater - too large for me in a small size and even though it has very interesting buttons, I advise a DIY project with a less expensive sweater. IMO the thrift store is a great place to hunt for interesting buttons.
