Oh Gigi, that's good to know. That's the start of a trend. At the Sole Society price point I wouldn't necessarily expect great cobbler-ship or whatever we might call that.

I think I'm realizing more that a shoe *can* be stable. I got some Paul Green heeled booties and my feet are in heaven in them. Something about the shape of the heel bed and the heel counter just feels SO stable. My ankles know they are safe!

I had a similar stability problem with the Sole Society Okala lookalike. It was so wobbly that it could hardly stand up on its own when I set it on the coffee table. Needless to say, they got returned. I agree that the Okalas are very stable.

It's okay, Firecracker. I long ago decided that shipping and restocking fees are much less expensive than going to the store and milling around for things I want and buying things on impulse and spending money on snacks. I mostly wanted to warn away my high-volume, weak-ankled sisters! I think the booties are just gorgeous though.

Thanks for the review, Adelfa. Too bad they didn't work out AND they cost money to return!

Oh Donna, I should have tried the thwack test before I packed them up! I'm curious now, though, whether that Sole Society Okala look-alike that Angie and I think Aida have in pale gray feels as stable as the Okalas.

I saw on some YouTube or other video that one should always give heels a light thwack on the side to check for their stability and balance, and that even $ome $$$$ de$igner $hoes are darn unstable. Too bad on those booties, though. They're so pretty.

I loved this bootie that Angie featured in the linked post. I ordered it immediately even though it hadn't been in my plans. Nordstrom didn't have it (it does now) so I ordered direct from Sole Society.

The bootie in person is just as pretty as the picture. The fit was bad though. I measure an 8 on the wide side and usually order booties in a 9 to accommodate the width in my foot. There was plenty of room in the toe, but the fit over my arch and around my ankle was sausage casing tight. So this would be a better bootie for a lower volume foot.

Even worse, the heel didn't feel stable. It seemed to cant my foot outwards, so that I had to work to hold my foot straight. I have weak ankles so this is a deal breaker for me. I contrast this with the Okalas--they have a heel too, but my feet always feel stable, straight, and upright in them.

If you have a lower volume foot that isn't picky about heel balance, this is a pretty shoe that would work with dresses, trousers, or jeans. Otherwise pass!

Be sure to order from Nordstrom so that in case of a return you don't have to pay a $7.95 restocking fee to get the credit back on your credit card (no fee for store credit).
