Good to know.
They certainly have different cuts.
There is one that buttons up right under the underbust and flares out, and then there are more boyfriend ones that hang straight down.

One day, I will get myself one of these fantastic blazers.

Thanks for the review, GF -- it's helpful to me to hear about this as I continue to debate my eventual purchase of a Smythe, assuming I can find one that fits, that is!

I bought this in black , and found the fit just right for me. I wouldn't necessarily say my midsection is out of proportion or larger than my shoulders (not sure I quite understand that) but yes, I definitely am overweight for my frame size.

I also wear an 8 - in all Smythe jackets that work for me. Not every style and cut is going to work for everyone though.... The Duchess was far too tight through the chest on me, but just fine at the waist . You're right : there are different fits in Smythe jackets and you need to try everything on Even the boyfriend cut differs by fabric - I have it in a linen blend in my usual 8, but it was far too big on me (big apple me) in the microfibre blend.

I recently ordered the Smythe 'Dandy' linen navy blazer, even though I have my eye on a very different Fall style. I thought it would be worth trying, because it's a light material and perfect for warmer weather, and because the rich navy offers a more casual and flattering vibe than a traditional black blazer. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics, but I wanted to share that the blazer is cut *very* large, relative to Smythe. Whereas an 8 in the Duchess fits me well in the shoulder and the waist, the 8 in the Dandy was too large in the waist, to the point that the blazer looked uncharacteristically shapeless. Quite surprising. This blazer would probably work well for apple-ish figures, or those with larger midriffs (bust and stomach) relative to their shoulder line. I hope the review helps those who might be considering the style.
