In my early 20’s I picked up a wildcard (I was a cardi girl). A black Liz Claiborne boyfriend blazer w a b&amp;w mattress ticking lining. That baby never wrinkled or showed wear. The fabric was incredible. I wore it everywhere to everything. And that was that, I’ve been a blazer girl ever since. I think you’d look stunning in a cream blazer, simple, shaped but easy though the body, all seasons wool crepe or crepe like, about 28-29” to hit bottom of bum. You could take it casual to white tie and I think it would work with you gorgeous light neutrals. Great detailed review. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/review-rebecca-minkoff-merilee-herringbone-blazer#post-1941788 Thu, 26 Jul 2018 21:45:59 +0000 gryffin 1941788@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I have the RM tweed Merilee b&amp;w tweed blazer on the right which was one of my favorite purchases of winter 2017.&nbsp; Things about this design I particularly like - notice the low stance and the narrow lapels with single button.&nbsp; This creates a very long, elegant vertical line accentuated my the shaping in the body.&nbsp; There is a small shoulder pad for structure, buttons on the sleeve are working and pockets are working.&nbsp; The sleeves on the tweed ran short to the base of my wrist, you can see on the model they were approaching bracelet.&nbsp; So I was very keen to order the RM herringbone version which I assumed would be a dead ringer and sold out from the start of the sale.&nbsp; The fabric on the herringbone is nice, soft, not itchy the finish work is excellent - the herringbone at the inside neck and shoulder has been turned 90 deg perpendicular which makes an attractive finish detail that was not necessary and shows care in construction as does the edging on the flap pocket.&nbsp; Strangely the sleeves are super long.&nbsp; Now I have long arms, 33" (long blazer lovers know this because that's the length I like my blazers - fingertip - 33" so it's a dead on measure)&nbsp; This is 2.5" longer than the sleeves on the tweed and it hits me at the distal (most peripheral thumb joint - there is a single negative review on this).&nbsp; For some reason, due to the construction and movement of the fabric this doesn't bother me.&nbsp; But there are 4 real working buttons on the sleeves so it would require more skill and cost to alter the sleeves.&nbsp; The jacket is elegant, the black&amp;gray herringbone has more vertical presence than many, the jacket is tapered though the body giving it an elegant hourglass silhouette.&nbsp; The RM size guide is off.&nbsp; My tweed got reviews as running super small, so although I am a size 4-6 5'3" 112 lb, 34A slim rectangle - I took a large.&nbsp; It fits with room for a thin sweater although the body is generous the drape of the fabric is elegant and it's become a favorite and a workhorse - but realize I prefer my blazers more fluid than most.&nbsp; I ordered the Medium and the Large in the herringbone (I thought the thicker tweed might have thrown off the sizing)- the medium (sized for 6-8) came today.&nbsp; It fits well in the shoulders, it buttons smoothly without pulling but that's over a very thin dress top.&nbsp; If I wanted to button it over a cashmere sweater or dress is might pull.&nbsp; Realize my hips are 36. 5" and on the RM size guide the medium is size 6-8 with hips up to 39"&nbsp; I tried this over skirted leggings so no additional padding - so this baby runs small with super long sleeves!&nbsp; That being said - long blazer, shaped with a low stance and narrow lapels are a HEWI - I will definitely be keeping one and probably the large.&nbsp; The quality on RM blazers is very good, I think corners get cut on the quality of the fabric, not the construction.&nbsp; IOW, it's not Smythe, VB, HL or Theory - but it's totally worth the regular price and a steal at the sale price.&nbsp; If you are looking for a long blazer and are a slim rectangle I would definitely recommend it but be warned about the sleeve length unless you like them super long like me and size up.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p> <p>ETA: the large jacket came today.&nbsp; The shoulder are very slightly wider than the medium and body has just slightly more ease which I liked.&nbsp; However, the sleeves seamed wider and the length came almost to my fingertips - beyond sloppy.&nbsp; Considering the 4 working buttons it was not worth it to shorten and have the sleeves narrowed.&nbsp; The Medium fits well, I wanted slightly more ease through the body for layers, but it's not a deal breaker.&nbsp; Looks very nice on.&nbsp; If you order, order the largest of your normal sizes but absolutely do not size up.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
