The knit trousers were pretty good, nice and comfy for sitting on a train all day. My particular pair are styled a bit like jeans which makes them look less like pyjamas, IMHO, although they also have a ridiculously long rise. I put a dart across the front to take up some of the length (covered by my shirt) and I still could pull them up nearly to my armpits! I might do a bit of surgery on them to see if I can improve the fit.

The flats are not really intended to fold but the tops are very soft and flexible, with elastic around the opening, so they are easy to pack. I had thought I might wear them around the hotel and possibly with my skirt but I ended up wearing my boots all the time instead. They are a bit like these except they are just cheap faux leather from Primark, not Lanvin!

Nice capsule!

I hear you about the saggy jeans issue. My AG skinnies are as comfy as Pj's but they come with a price: they sag too easily. I could wear them on a plane and be happy but I tend to swell too much when I fly, so I reserve them for later when I get there.

How did the ponte trousers work out for you?

As for taking only one pair of shoes, that can work in cooler temps if you are wearing socks. But in warmer temps it can be a disaster, if your feet sweat they can swell and you can get blisters. Better to have a couple pairs so you can rotate. Also I am never going on any warm trip without flip flops. I hate them but I've had two trips ruined due to blister/foot issues when only flip flops would work.

How big was your backpack? How did you get all that to fit in a backpack?? I can't imagine...

What kind of foldable slippers?

Lots of questions, but I'm in midst of travel capsule planning right now.

There are always a few things that don't work out, but this is a great grouping of mix and match with your color story. Kudos to you for a week in a backpack!

I got home yesterday from my trip to Germany. We were gone for almost a week, which included staying overnight with my brother-in-law and having dinner with my in-laws on the way home last night. Most of the trip was spent walking around Christmas markets and sitting on trains. I really wanted everything to fit in my small-ish backpack.

This is what I took: space dyed sweater, knit top with deer printed on
it, chambray shirt, 3 long-sleeved tees in black, grey, and stripes;
grey ponte trousers, burgundy pencil skirt, dark blue straight leg
jeans, black and white drapey cardigan, assorted scarves, grey boots,
black wedges, and foldable flats to use as slippers.

Originally I had planned to make my new burgundy sweatshirt the center piece of my wardrobe, but when I was trying everything on I decided that it is not actually very flattering so I swapped it for a burgundy and white space dyed cotton sweater. I also decided at the last minute to leave out some scarves and the blue knit shirt that is visible in the photo.

I think the colors were ok, but my jeans got really stretched out after the first day and didn't look that great. The wedges look cute but I only ended up wearing them once, so I could have left them out. Likewise with the flats -- I just didn't really use them like I imagined I would. I had envisioned wearing the skirt more and doing some layering, but the weather was actually quite warm so some of the looks I had planned were just too hot. I didn't feel too badly dressed but definitely not as fab as I had hoped!

Next time I think that I should wear the skirt more, take fewer tees and more tops, stick to one pair of shoes, and perhaps consider jeggings rather than jeans. The saggy baggy jeans problem really drove me nuts.
