bj1111 - there are some tunics, although limited in the boutique I was in. I hadn't thought about trying them as a dress. Will have to check into that.

Caro - I could TOTALLY see you in one of these gorgeous dresses.

Mia - at 5'4", these could potentially work for you. It's not just about the overall height, but your torso length. I'm extremely short waisted on top of being short overall. It might be worth trying. You thought I was taller??? I could HUG you right now - lol!

Rae - now I have to hunt down an arty, edgy designer who does brilliant draping and fit for petite ladies in Canada...could take some time, don't you think???

Hmmnn...I appreciate this as the dresses appeal to me but at 5'4" sounds like they may not work. I often have the "armhole problem". I do have long torso so sometimes I am ok. with regular sizing but often not.

I thought you were taller! You dress your figure so well.

Thanks for such good detective work. I was waiting to hear your review before heading downtown to check. I can see the frocks wont work for me either given the height.

Definitely worth a try. There are some dresses of hers I can find online but they didn't have in the store that have waists that are less "obvious", if you know what I mean? Not completely shapeless but not overly specific in placement either. I'm wondering if those could work for me?

I'm excited for you to check it out - you'll have to let me know how it goes.

Sveta - you would be stunning in one of her frocks with your beautiful, graceful height.

Here's an entire Pinterest page of her stuff for anyone who is interested http://pinterest.com/search/pi.....iljkovitch

The clothes really were beautiful. I didn't have a lot of time when I was there last night so would like to go back and have a look at the tops and skirts. I was quite focused on the dresses last night because that's what I was after. I think perhaps if the boutique in my home town had a wider selection, there may have been some better options but of course, that's hard to say for sure.

Diana - I'm only 5'1" and I think you're taller (5'4" or so?) in which case, you could be in luck.

Rachy - maybe one day a designer will come along who creates arty and edgy inspired items for petites...hey, a girl can dream - lol!

Thanks for the review! They sound lovely. Too bad about the no petite sizing. I noticed the other day while browsing her site that a store really close to me carries VM so I was thinking about taking a look. But it sounds like they will be too long for me too, especially in the top. I might be able to get away with a skirt or something...

Bj1111 had originally posted about Canadian designer Veronique Miljkovitch and I followed up with this thread http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ner-update.

The reason I wasn't on the forum last evening was because I went to the local boutique to check out this designer's clothing. Here are my observations and thoughts:

First of all, you can spot the quality of these items a mile away. Just the way the dresses and tops hang on the hangers is impressive. They are truly beautiful works of art even from afar.

When feeling the fabric, is it nothing short of luxurious. Even the fine jersey knits have a substantial enough weight to them that they will hang beautifully, not cling to the body, and will not be see through at all (one of my concerns with the thinner HL knits).

The stitching is superb and the various tucks and drapes are beautiful. Everything is so incredibly professional looking.

I tried on two dresses, both of a jersey knit with fabulous draping across the mid section. These dresses are simultaneously figure flattering and camouflaging - the draping around the mid section completely hides any wobbly bits of apple belly tendencies but without making you look like you're wearing a sack. Brilliant! I felt edgy, fashion forward and extremely comfortable. These clothes are made to be lived in.

But...they are not made for a petite height woman. The arm holes on the sleeveless dress I tried were much too deep and low and length of the dress was midi which felt a bit overwhelming on my frame with the draping. Because the draping on the front comes right down to the hem, the dress cannot be shortened. The long sleeve dress I tried on would need the sleeves shortened or always scrunched but the issue was the waist - it was too long on my torso so that the waist of the dress was actually on my hips.

I thought the prices were quite reasonable given the quality - dresses were in the $250 - $330 range and tops were $170 - $220. I have only tried on the one Helmut Lang dress so cannot speak to all HL items, but in comparison, the quality of Veronique Miljkovitch's clothing was much higher IMHO.

If these items fit my petite frame, I would be buying one of these dresses. I can see them at work as well as on a date night, dressed up or down. I suspect they would wear very well in terms of longevity. If you're looking for arty but practical at the same time and are taller than 5'5, this Canadian designer is worth checking out.
