I just purchased the regular Glastonbury and will add my $.02. The Glastonbury (not the "6-inch" version) is shown with the top folded down: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ti.....en/4025414. But guess what? That bit folds right up and adds some fuzzy softness to the ankle area. I preferred the grey color of the Glastonbury to the black of the Glastonbury 6-inch for my wardrobe and find them a nice alternative to a bootie for a casual day.

Sizing: I am a 7.5 in length, but often purchase an 8 because of bunions. The 7.5 feels totally comfy (quite wide but looks sleek), but I have not walked up and down San Francisco hills yet, so we'll see.

I like these too. Canadians - these are around in mall stores here. Spotted them in Sport Chek and at Little Burgundy.....if I'm remembering correctly.

Thanks, Eliza, for that detailed description. I think you're right about one reading more urban and the other perhaps a bit more country casual. Hmmm. Tough decision....lucky I don't have to make it tonight.... ;-)

Suz- Looks like the wheat has a dark brown band around the top of the ankle, while the black is all the same except for the ever so subtle dark bronze metallic over the toe and back of the heel. Almost reads a tiny bit lighter, a hint of dark bronze metallic where the shoe would naturally wear. To my eye, the banding adds to making the wheat a little more casual, a little less "urban", for want of a better word. Yet, they will play well with lots of pieces as Angie has described, bookend lighter hair and be extra fun.
Coin toss!

Gosh, these have been in and out of my cart so many times! Thanks for the reviews. My feet are not wide but they are on the wider side of average. I'm tempted now too! @Suz: I think wheat since you have black and ink already. Although, these are quite different from what you have so I suppose that black would not be a duplication.

The question is, wheat or black? Wheat would somewhat bookend my hair (in a vague sort of way) but black would blend in a bit better with dark bottoms. OTOH, I have ink booties and black booties and nothing at all in the wheat or tan colour. Hmmmm.

Glad they work for you, Bonnie G. I just ordered the wheat.

Go for them, Suz. I think they are likely to work with your feet, knowing we have both enjoyed several of the same shoes over the years. So comfortable and although I am a bit maximal on shoes, this one filled a wardrobe hole. I hate cold ankles and love an alternative to my dressier booties.

Angie- so much in my wardrobe works thanks to your input and recommendations. Forever grateful!

I got my Timberlands today and love them. I ordered my regular size and they fit perfectly. I have a lot of trouble finding comfortable shoes (my toe box area tends to run a bit wider than many regular sized shoes) and these fit amazingly well. I will get a lot of wear from them this fall. I got the black and am thinking that I really need the wheat, too. Thanks to Angie for recommending these fun shoes.

Great review, and thanks for the validation, Eliza.

I KNOW. These booties are so well made - they put a lot of designer shoes to shame, especially at the price. And they are comfy, hip and look fresh.

I kept the wheat because the colour made me happy - but the black is just as fab.

Big thank you to Angie for sharing her NAS finds, especially the Timberland Glastonbury 6 inch sneaker. Mine arrived today in black and I could not be happier. They are beyond comfortable and very well made, fulfilling a HEWI for me. I had a couple of ankle surgeries this year and wanted the warmth and support of a comfortable, casual laced sneaker bootie. Last winter I couldn't quite make myself pull the trigger on a pair of Cole Haan sheep skinned lined high tops for $300. Enough of a wild card that I wanted to be sure I'd get my wear out of them before a splurge. These fit the bill; I'll waterproof them. I have low volume feet and though some observe they run small, they fit me in my regular size, arriving with a built-in (not easily removed) comfort insole. I went up half a size only so that I can layer my own insole on top of the original one. If you have wider feet, read the reviews for fit information.

In keeping with the dangers of NAS, I am sorely tempted to get them in wheat as well. While that is not always my color, I like it with white and blue jeans, and think it would also work with navy and charcoal casual looks. This shoe is functional, well-made and fairly priced.
