Modern classic, with a (casual/edgy) twist? To my eyes, the casual twist can name the sneakers in nr 2 and 3, or the bomber like cardi, in nr. 3. The edgy twist would be the yellow hi-low sweater and the yelow coat in nr 9.
Suz has said it well, It seems your style has come somehow together and think this should be a good place to be!

The last part of my reply mysteriously disappeared - probably my error. Anyway, here is the shorter version.
Suz: You are always so good at analyzing, so thanks for your comment! I feel more like home and I think you're right about my style being more integrated. I aim at sophisticated and like the sound of Euro edge. I'll keep these as guiding keywords. :-)
JAileen and unfrumped: Thank you!

Thanks!

Sterling, Happy New Year to you, too. So happy you like #1. :-)
Aliona I've actually been paying more attention to textures this year. Proportions used to be difficult, but I've been practicing a lot. I'm working at the university in the humanities, studying visual culture. It is not an artistic profession, but writing is creative (even in this genre).

So great! What Suz said--all are different but have kind of a theme or integrity. Just love 1-4. Great business casual and a kind of style I would like to model outfits on.

OMG, you look AMAZING in that colour combo in #1. Just gorgeous. I also love #9. What a beautiful combination!

I love the flair with which you wear the sneakers, too. Fantastic bookending for you and super practical and funky, too.

I agree your style is simpler and more sophisticated while also retaining a bit of retro pretty and Euro edge. That makes it a tough one to describe. What I feel for sure is that somehow your style is a lot more integrated. It feels as if you are really coming into your own, fashion-wise. It might be the injection of some core classic elements that ground the others (e.g. the skirt). I'm not sure. But something is definitely working!

For your moniker, I'm not sure...I will ponder.

Wow, fabulous, Harmonica! You really sound like you've found your style groove--and my how these results show it. You look so confident. I second your love for the orange and pink in 1. I would never have thought to try that but love it on you! I also love the textures and colours in 7 and the proportions in 9. You seem to have a real eye for mixing textures, colours or proportions in a way that ends up balanced and cohesive--if there are lots of one in play you limit the other two. That's an incredible talent, you must work in an artistic profession.

I'm no good with style descriptors so will leave that to others more knowledgeable than me. But I do see modern and simple, but also artistic and experimental. Brava!

I've been on and off all year, not participating much, but still tried to follow a bit of what's going on. Hope 2016 will give room for more YLF time. Thank you all for your lovely comments, support and help!

These days I feel more confident in my style, what I want to create and how to do it. I think I have simplified my outfits after joining YLF - or at least after my first YLF year. Here are a few of my favorites for 2015:

#1: Loosely inspired by an Angie ensemble in April (burgundy, orange, white). I love the vibrant orange blazer (Zara) and pink top together! Green bag to break it all up and metallic workhorse booties that goes well with light and dark colours. Next year I'll swap the charcoal pencil for my cream pencil.
#2: FFBO. I bought this dress in Feb and it has become very handy. I can dress it down with sneakers or swap into heeled shoes. The long cardi sort of grounds the outfit and adds a bit of drama/boho. Navy bag. I really want to upgrade this bag.
#3: Navy/yellow wool cardi (Paul Smith). Love the playfulness and my good old charcoal pencil has been a workhorse all year. It is my no 1 basic wardrobe piece that I always can rely on. To my surprise, sporty black sneakers became my favorite shoes this year. Navy bag.

#4: Navy dress (Marc by MJ). Simple, fun and versatile day-to-night dress. Sneakers again. Light grey coat that goes with everything due to it's amazingly versatile shape. Green bag.
#5: Casual and comfy MOTG outfit. Linen shirt with sparkly sequin collar and front pleats. Fun tomato red trousers (Marimekko) and striped jersey blazer. Sparkly silver Toms. Easy, breezy & fun.
#6: Keynote talk outfit in Illinois. Cream silk faux wrap top (Theory), bright blazer (Zara), floral skirt, black wedged ballerinas. White tote with gold inside. Thanks for the YLF help! I felt confident, professional, fun ad happy.
#7: Work outfit. Cropped, yellow cardi, grey leather jacket (bought in Chicago on a mini YLF meetup with Day Vies & MaryA :-)), floral skirt, black wedged ballerinas. White tote. I like how the sour yellow is repeated.
#8: Dressed down LBD (Karen Millen) with long wool cardi with local knit pattern, black tights, black flat shoes, olive jacket (Banana Republic) and vintage bag. A boho version of the LBD.
#9: Yellows and plaid scarf. So happy every time I wear the sour yellow wool coat (Marimekko), the warm yellow wool sweater with high/low hem and side split and the plaid scarf. Not always together. These pieces have taught me to follow happiness and not be afraid of colour mixing. I'm all in for "anything goes" and remind myself to look at how wonderful nature mixes the most unexpected colours with success.

Lesson learned: I love bright and happy colours on the sour side. For me it takes courage and confidence to wear them, but it also fills my energy level and attract positive attention.

I've cut down on accessories. No jewelry, except my men's steel watch, a scarf and maybe simple ear studs. I've also accepted that trials and errors are part of the process and should not affect the fun. Getting a great haircut is also essential for feeling good.

My wardrobe makes me happy! It feels great to know that I started on scratch with all worn out and ill fitting pieces for about 6 years ago and have, with the help of YLF, come to such a beautiful and happy place. :-)

Wish list for 2016: tomato red and apple or kiwi green pieces, colourful bags. ETA: grey skinnies that don't cling to the calf.

Help! Style description: I've never got my head around creating a style description, but I know that Retro is part of my style. I think Simple and Modern also might be a what I aim at. What do you see from these outfits?

Thanks for comments and tweaks for 2016.
