Steph, thank you! That's a really good idea. What you describe is exactly what I feared might happen eventually. I'll do as you suggest.

Brenda - a pin won't work because there's no hole to put it through. The zipper is (or was!) a special design.

Rae, the jeans are Bleulab.

Bj and Angie - I will post new pics with an outfit pretty soon! I posted K/R at first but not really styled at all.

So glad you're keeping those fab pants and that they're staying on, staying shut with no help at all! That is serendipity heaped on serendipity, Suz --- this pair was *meant* for you.

Yay! i have jeggings that don't even have a zip and they work just fine. Those ones look great on you, i'm glad you're keeping :)

just to be on the safe side you might want to sew the fly closed if possible. I've had broken zips get stuck like 1/4 of the way down and it makes the whole fly area lie strangely until you get it straightened out........just take a few basting stitches right underneath the top of the zip, underneath the 'slider', over and under the teeth. i'd post a pic but can't do that right now, sorry :(

This is great new! have fun, steph

Hooray! Suz, I have sewn myself into broken-zippered pants before, and I think it's totally worth it. :)

Who makes these jeans again?

Does the zipper have a hole of some sort? I'm betting you have thought of this but a safety pin would work as a pull if there is some place to pin it.

Yay! I have a few pairs of stretchy shorts/jeans that I can pull on and off without undoing the button and zipper too. If they begin to creep down, I've found that a tucked in tank helps keep them up.

So - remember my fab reversible legging jeans with the broken zipper?

I took them back to the store. They did a bit of investigation and weren't able to get a new zipper pull because it is a unique design, unlike ordinary reversible zipper pulls.

They offered me a full refund.

But I tried the pants on again - took them on and off a bunch of times. And I am able to do so comfortably without using the zipper at all. My main concern was that it might start inching down on its own. But that doesn't seem to be happening, and in any case, it looks as if I could just sew it shut.

So on reflection, I decided to keep them. They are so comfortable that I think it's worth it. They'll be a great tucking into boots jean in the fall - they don't seem to creep down my hips the way my other legging jeans do.

Not perfect - but a reasonably happy ending!
