The jeans look good to me. That's the cropped style, so technically you're not in the "flood." But if you're more comfortable, tall boots would work just fine for fall. I like the merlot booties. They might just work with the black pencil skirt if you pair them with opaque merlot tights.

Every time I try a heel, anything 1.5" or higher, I end up regretting it. I usually buy supposed comfort brands like Mephisto, Fidji, Sofft, etc., and they are all painful to me after an hour. I've tried different Munro shoes on at the Rack and have not found any to be comfortable. I always have high hopes!

I tried those jeans, too. I found the fabric too thin and they just didn't look good on me. I had sized up for slouch, but they drooped in the wrong places and just looked yuck. They look lots better on you, except for the length. They are meant to be cropped jeans (and rolled) so that is part of the trouble.

You will look great in booties? Are you absolutely sure about a heel? The Munros are AMAZINGLY comfortable -- like slippers. Truly. But try on a bunch of styles -- it's really interesting to see what different vamp heights and shapes can do.

I agree! I miss the days when all premium denim came with a 34" inseam and I'd have to hem everything to the 32" I wanted. Now they're all too short and I can't do anything about it. =( At places like Gap, I have been ordering talls!

Yeah, I don't want to roll -- I like ankle scrunch, too! I also like more coverage because the fall is very chilly here. But all I'm seeing is 26-29" inseams everywhere. Has everyone gone mad?!

I can't do any heel, so the Munroes are out. I'm going to Nordstrom to do the returns, so I'll see what they have in-store (and the Rack, which is across the street from the mall).

Agree about the jeans being too short. This is a common problem for me too, especially since I like my jeans to have scrunch. However, you might want to consider rolling them. Depending on how high you can get it (I'm usually limited by calf width), you can get them to hit at a more flattering point.

Re: the merlot booties. I think the issue is the straight horizontal top. This is a cut that doesn't work for me either. IMO the horizontal top only works if it hits below the ankle bone, otherwise I think it is leg-shortening and just creates odd proportions. Did you try the Munros from NAS with the V-shaped front? I think that is the most flattering shape. Or you could try a lace-up style, since the lacing and the tongue create vertical lines.

Sadly returning both, though I love them both if I'm standing absolutely still, LOL!

I bought the Vince Camuto dark leaf camo jeans and a pair of merlot booties. I love the print of the "jeans" (they are very thin, not denim) but they are SO SHORT! I knew they had a short inseam, it just looks so silly on me. Or does it? I want opinions, so I took a couple of pics with different shoes. They looked absolutely ridiculous with the merlot booties. They are too big or something, so I'm not keeping them, anyway. The back of the waist slips down annoyingly, but I'm not sure if sizing down is the answer. They work very well with all my taller boots, so I'll think about a different size. But I really need pants for before boot season.

I don't have any ankle booties so I was hoping this would be a good starter pair, but they are not comfortable at all. I tried on a few things and took lots of pics to see if I have the ratio/height right. I've never tried to wear ankle booties with skirts; only taller ones. I pulled the green pencil down low to mimic a midi length, because I hope to get a VC tube skirt next week! I also tried the dotted skirt with a pair of my oxfords, which I don't usually wear with skirts. I need to replace them so I wanted to see whether this look is OK. If so, then I'll look for replacements that are the same shape/vamp to wear with pants and skirts.

Thanks!
