I think these are gorgeous. I agree with the other comments re nipped in waist and
Perhaps a straighter leg pant. You look great in a pencil skirt so that's a no brainer:). I think I would just keep it all simple and streamlined, add interest with accessories and make sure the fit was perfect.

Such great ideas! Thank you! I'm not interested in going full on "retro," but there is a way to do this in a timeless sense that just radiates understated luxury -- I love that.

Oh, and you're right about the PPL -- so essential in wide legs, and so tough to do!

Oops didn't see the 3rd one - Angie may have something to say about the pant length.

The second one I think you could do as is. The first I'd simplify & lower the neckline & have pants that weren't as wide - gorgeous looks.

I would suggest a tapered slouchy trouser instead of the full leg, and a nipped in jacket in both versions (and I am pouting over that animal print....want it so bad). Both could be considered columns of color with a twist, the pink on the grey could be a pink scarf tucked into the jacket and a pink cuff. These are great inspirational photos. I love RL

I'm loving these looks from Ralph Lauren. I'd simplify them for real life, wearing the trousers with a simple but quality turtleneck or shirt. I adore the pop of pink in the skirt ensemble, and I'm always a sucker for a cloche. I'm not sure these looks would translate well to my figure. Anyone have suggestions for making them work on a curvier body not 8 feet tall?

ETA -- I found this blogger online, in a suit she made from a 1939 pattern. How fab! I wouldn't wear the ensemble so literally IRL, but she is showing how well an hourglass can wear this silhouette.
