Well, there's not $ for everything all at once. I think Jen Thoden does make the most sense, and she's the only one I've considered using for a color analysis. I will get that done. It's on my "to do" list.

Paula: Yes, I like Jen Thoden a lot and watch her YouTube videos. It's just that I'm not ready to fork out the $ for a color analysis right now. We have a lot going on, with a vacation to the Dominican Republic in 2 weeks, replacing the carpet in our basement and possibly in 3 upstairs bedrooms, and a new car in the near future (my DH is shopping around). I'm sure I'll have it in my budget next year; just not now.

Unfrumped: I seem to look best in the Universal colors, but have read that no one is completely neutral. Sigh...

BC, I'm responding to your comment about an online color analysis with Jen Thoden. I'll just offer that I had an online analysis with her and her team and was very satisfied. As my hair started to gray, I've seen my coloring change and colors I wore successfully in the past were no longer working. I'd gotten advice from a variety of places and her response made the most sense to me. I've really seen a difference (and gotten postive feedback from people) since I've made some shifts based on her analysis.

So, I'm just saying that from my experience, you could reasonably expect a good outcome from getting an online color analysis with her and her team. And I'd love to hear about it if you went ahead with it!

Some colors are almost universal , too- teal and shades of corals work on a range of skin tones.
You might like creating small " capsules" around a few of your favorite colors and then you can branch out or change to a different one later. I like a lot of colors but if I go too crazy, I don't have enough cohesive outfits, or can't pack for a trip, if I don't have some discipline and color scheme in mind( I tend to be picky about color combos and don't think everything goes with everything. ).

I'm thinking Cool Summer simply because Soft Summer seems too muted, even though I don't think my eyes are that bright. The brighter Cool colors seem to clear my skin better. I became aware of this when I bought some blush that's more muted than I usually use. It just sinks into my skin and does nothing to brighten me up.

No. Cool colours most of the time.

But when you colour your hair with auburn streaks, it picks up the coral and works well too.

Thanks. I think I wear warmish or coolish colors best, but don't know how bright to go. I also don't know if I'm predominantly warm or predominantly cool. I do wear warm, yellow-based foundation makeup because that's what matches my skin's overtones.

Maybe you're more neutral? Maybe can wear both cool and warm colors if they are not overly cool or warm? My coloring is slightly warm so I can wear a lot of clear oranges and yellows, but not the oranges and yellow of leaves that have turned in fall. I can't wear violet (too cool) but purple is fine.

You look bright Spring to me, which is kind of in the border between warm and cool. Maybe that's why you can wear both. I am no expert in coloring, so it is just what I see.

Sal, your comments are what I was sorta thinking before I asked Jen. I'm just wondering how soft or bright I should go. I've already settled on mid tones. I might go warmer with my colors, as I never seem to have any luck going cooler. Right now I'm straddling the middle.

Liz, I'm not really sure. I know my coloring has shifted a little. People keep saying I look clear or like a Spring, which makes me wonder if I'm not wearing my best colors. I think my preferences might be changing, too.

I sent these pictures in to Jen Thoden to ask her if she thinks I'm soft or bright. I wasn't prepared for her answer. She thinks I'm probably bright and that I may be warm. I didn't even ask her about warmth. I don't want to do an online color analysis because I don't think it would be 100% accurate. Still, I
I have trouble with so many cool colors that I'm starting to question things.

I have bright, warm athletic wear that I bought because it was on sale. I didn't care that much about the colors because the clothing is strictly for the gym. There's a really bright yellow top that I really love, and it's not a summer yellow. I don't struggle with orange, either, I don't think. My DH has a bright orange sweatshirt, so I took it and held it up to my face (without makeup on). My face didn't turn orange or anything like I've read can happen to people with cool skin. My face looks fine in the yellow, too, and I know a Winter woman who looks jaundiced every time she wears a yellow top. I struggle with cool blues and pinks.

Love the coral on you! Remember that summer skin can be a different tone than in winter. Brighter colors just seem right in summer. Next winter you may go back to cool tones unless you ski or take a tropical vacation
