So glad to see you post! We've missed your articulate, kind, thoughtful posts and that fabulous Ornella style. #1 had me hyperventilating (Angie's version of being launched into orbit.) It looks like you just stepped out of Vogue...

Heather is that really you??? Sending as many hugs back, it so great to 'see' you here again (I think you've been away for quite a while even before my absence.)

Thank you Una. I love that you love the skirt :-)

Aida how well observed about the elements from my wardrobe and you are right, I chose my transitional capsule being guided by them. Thanks for all the usual detailed observations and suggestions which I'll happily put in practice. I'll stalk Astrid for oxfords inspiration.

Jeanne, Deborah thank you both for your kind words.

Claire your comment made me smile. 'Ballerina' and I don't usually get mentioned in the same sentence, with me being so tall, and I'll surely remember your compliment with a smile every time I wear these sandals and the skirt.

bionda it's nice that you've been inspired to reach out for your skirt. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Katie thank you. Time flies indeed and we leave probably the most hectic month of my life is behind us, but it feels more like 6 months.

shevia thank you and I also hope to post some outfits with the new shoes too.

Mandipa wow, your way with words is out of this world, you certainly know how to make someone feel like floating above the ground. Thank you. I'm happy you've noticed all the little details I was going for as well, in the changed circumstances they are my little creative outlet and that little bit of 'extra' that makes me feel my outfits are complete.

Ornella, so very lovely to see you and hear from you again!

Where I come from, they call an especially beautiful and poised woman a 'fairy who's lost her wings' --- this is exactly what I thought of when I saw those thumbs! You do those floaty, draped silhouettes so wonderfully, even when on-the-go and wardrobe-restricted. Hats off to you! And I delight in the sense of detail you lavish on each outfit --- the polka dots to match the perforations, the black lace on a top with laced black shoes, the flower pin on your jacket to pick up the floral pattern in the dress!

I think both white and black leggings should work just fine with that dress --- the 50/50 proportion in the print makes sure of that. I like Aida's suggestion to go lighter for summer and darker for winter.

Oh, and adore the oxfords! They even look buttery. Lovely, lovely colour. Can't wait to see you style them...

Speaking of styling, I for one would love to see your inimitable 'repetitions' if you find the time to photograph and post!

Your white linen skirt is amazing, you look positively like a ballerina with your ankle ribbons! The skinnies outfit is amazing as well with the long cardi! It's so good to hear that you are settling into Germany nicely. We've missed you!

Ornella!! So happy to see you again, glad the move went smoothly (enough) You are looking amazingly well put together. Happy to see plenty of signature O: stripes, dots, black, white, and red. That floaty linen skirt in #1 is just beautiful, looks like it has really fab movement and those cute little sandals look perfect with it. You wear those long cascading cardigans in #2 SO WELL, the drama the extra long length provides is fabulous. #3 is my favorite of the lot, and I adore the white leggings here! Black would be great if you wanted to take the dress into fall, or even over skinny jeans. But for summer, these white leggings look perfect. I am also glad the orange skirt in #4 survived several purges and made the move with you; love seeing orange paired with white and faded denim, it's my favorite orange combo (and that little denim jacket is so cheeky!). And congrats on finally getting your oxfords! I must admit I am surprised to see that they are brown, and can't wait to see how you'll style them. Astrid wears her brown oxfords with a lot of black items and it looks super. Yay! Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us

Thank you and yes - we love it here. This is wonderful country from what I knew before and can experience first hand so-far. The only thing I found was difficult was the fact I don't speak the language (yet) - for someone like me it was and still is very difficult to accept I cannot express myself as well as I want to. But, I had to forget feeling embarrassed and have simply started using the few words and phrases that I do know and find it immensely rewarding when I realize people understand what I'm trying to say It pushes me forward.

Suz, I've briefly scanned the forum and I'm so glad my outfit#4 actually seems to fit into the recent dotty events around here. What can I say... You can take the girl away from YLF, but can't take away YLF from a girl ;-)
And today's blog post is just great and also very timely for me - cropped denim jacket was my last purchase in the UK just because I wanted to wear it with the skirts and dresses, so plenty of inspiration there too.
Yes, it is amazing how our eyes have adjusted to the 'new' length. Angie was right about midis, of course.
ETA: And thank you for the warm welcome too

Ornella - how wonderful to see you again! So glad that things are starting to settle into some sort of normlacy for you. I hope you're enjoying Germany so far. I think it sounds like a lot of fun shaking sand out of your shoes!

Love the outfits - glad to see you haven't lost your gorgeous sense of style!

Okay - now I can see. SO glad you kept the orange skirt - it's a very "Audrey-esque" outfit, somehow. Wonderful. As for the Oxfords, those are such a wonderful soft taupe; they will work brilliantly in your wardrobe and will look very good with your denim MOTG looks. Excellent shopping!

I can easily imagine why you love that white skirt. It really does say "summer."

I do think a black legging might have grounded that dress a bit more, especially with the black footwear. Isn't it funny how our eyes have adjusted to the new lengths so quickly? But also, if you are moving about with kids it become very important to be able to sit comfortably without exposing too much thigh.

Ornella! So wonderful to hear from you! And "hear" is the operative word for me at the moment; I'm on the train and have terrible wi -fi. So I can only view the thumbnails. You look wonderful in those. Love the yellow bag! Can't wait to see these in greater detail.

Have you still been following the blog? If you missed Angie's black suit post or her post about Karen's summer style today, you MUST check out those!!

Also, she has done some great MOTG capsules of late.

As for us...we've been taking inspiration from Denise (CocoLion) and adding slouchy distressed denim. Not to mention, going DOTTY with MaryK, Goldenpig, and many more.

Hello beautiful ladies. I have missed you A LOT. A day of absence from here feels very long, but a month feels like e.t.e.r.n.i.t.y.

My family is slowly but surely settling in Germany and despite all sorts of expected and unexpected issues that need(ed) sorting out, life is showing signs of getting back to some sort of normality. We finally have the internet connection sorted, so I can indulge in a bit of time spent here, although there won't be too much to add in terms of outfits for several reasons. Firstly, we still live mostly out of the suitcases and boxes, so there's not that much wardrobe variety on offer, but that is not too bad - I have learnt at YLF to make out the most of little wardrobe that I have in rotation. Secondly, I am a 100% MOTG now and if had to I could live in the simple uniform of skinnies + top + sunglasses + flat shoes + roomy bag (to fit the kitchen sink in), but the variations of the outfits would probably bore you, so I'll refrain from repetitions. Either way, I spend so much time either running around at the playgrounds (and shaking sand out of my shoes endlessly), that I have a whole new style needs and perspective on my wardrobe - again, the ability to identify them actually originates from YLF. And finally, finding a suitable place for taking photos of my outfits in the new apartment is proving a bit tricky. But, I'll join in the fun only when possible.

For now, I'm sharing a few photos of the outfits with some pieces I could not wait to wear.

1. My absolute favorite of the lot, the white lined full skirt which just screams 'summer' to me. It was my little present to myself, made of thick, heavy linen and has amazing texture. It also swishes like a dream when I walk. The breeze helped a bit when this photo was taken, showing its fullness and wonderful shape. Worn with a striped shell top and cropped denim jacket, which I had off for the photo as it was extremely hot outside.

2. My typical 'uniform' for what happened to be a chilly day, so skinnies came into play to keep me warm. I'm not a big football fan, but why miss out on having fun - given that it was the day when the German team was playing at the current European football championship, I thought of dressing in the colors that surround me these days a lot. The result: black shoes, red cardigan and yellow handbag.

3. Family day at my husband's new workplace when there was a lot to see, do and generally walk around. I don't remember this linen-mix dress being so short when I bought it last year. I certainly didn't feel comfortable with the length so I added cropped white leggins. Mistake or not, what do you think? I never wore this type of leggins before. Should I get the black ones too to extend the mileage of this dress -> tunic?

4. Sorry for the bad light, I hope the description will help. I'm jumping on the orange bandwagon in the linen-mix skirt that somehow survived in my wardrobe from pre-YLF days - not because of color, but because its cut, the length and how great it felt to walk in it, even when I had no idea how to style it. I am now so glad I kept it. I had to rely on neutrals to wear it on the day, so out came polkadot top and white shoes with spotty cutouts. I also wanted to wear the wooden beads necklace and only later discovered they matched the buttons on my cropped denim jacket nicely.

5. Finally, a purchase. I have said in my last post that I'll go on SYC this year except when it comes to things that I actually need. During the packing for the move I have discovered so many pieces that I either haven't worn enough or at all, and I really want to enjoy them before adding anything new. But, very few days into my new life/style at a new location have discovered a gaping hole in my wardrobe - oxfords. I found these beauties after relatively brief search, they felt wonderful and so buttery soft on my feet, and after sleeping on it for a few days I went back to the shop - and even asked to buy them in the language that I'm slowly learning. I did come home with the right pair and in the correct size

Thanks for looking, comments are always welcome.

(Sorry for the long post I have a lot of catching up to do... are there must-reads that I need to pay special attention to?)
