smittie, yes, it's very interesting, as I've not tried on many patterned jackets. (I tried a Loft toille pattern once. )
It's like there's the jacket body but it's " separated in front & then your arms are moving around - so pattern and movement everywhere.
I don't feel that with stripes - I love seersucker, for example - though they're thin and overall low contrast.

I prefer pattern in the skirt, and I think it's because it occupies a smaller area, visually. The pattern in the blazer feels like it is quite maximal.

It does help confirm that my floral skirts are much more versatile (even though not classic figure camouflage to wear pattern on the bottom half). I feel they can be dressed up with dressy top, made more serious with classic blazer, worn other places with chambray shirt or T.

Thanks for the report. I am very tempted by that jacket but I am not sure how much wear I would get out of it.

What bridgie said. It was a good idea to try it and good to reject it if it was not right.

Unfrumped, I wouldn't call that a weak moment. I think it was good that you ordered the jacket and tried it. Since you did that you will not be wondering how it would have worked if you had tried it. Now you have eliminated it. And if you don't feel good with the black jacket, let it go and stick with your lighter colors if that is what you would prefer.

I also prefer lighter colors and they are more flattering on me, but once in a while I just have to try something different that catches my eye! :)

I had a weak moment and ordered the WHBM floral blazer to try. Was not planning a " skirt suit" look but just wondering.
I was not motivated to take pics, but it looked totally weird on me. I cannot wear that pattern as a jacket. Sort of like random focal points. It ran true to size for me but was also not a good style, fitted a bit off. I thought I'd like the cotton fabric, good for much of year here, but it was too- rough ? - for what I like in jackets
I'm also rethinking the ponte black jacket-- I tend to grab because I like knit, like to have some length with pants, and it's plainer than usual WHBM ( meaning they often have a lot of metallic bits & snaps or braid and things), but I wore a light- colored jacket today and am reminded how much better a medium to light color is.

So, random largish patterns on jackets- no.
