It's okay, Claire. If I come across as shattered, I'm not. Kind of expected it to be like this, and it was as much a research trip as anything else.

Also, I did pick up a really pretty wrap dress at Banana Republic. My first ever wrap dress (and the only dress I currently own, in fact). That's a direct influence of lgunn and the other lovely women who are discussing these dresses right now. I plan on wearing it out dancing this evening!

ETA: Thanks, Caro. I will look into it. I'm not that experimental and if Gap worked, I might just order that same style again.

It was really boring. Not just the few cuts, but only a few washes and no other colors. Was not inspiring at all. Maybe because they're making way for spring.

Great attitude Mochi - it's so hard sometimes. Just remember Angie's hunt & how many pairs she had to try on - big hugs.

I know the stock is different in Australia but do you have Jag jeans? I bought some skinny boyfriends from them (to see how I liked the look) & they fit my apple-y body well. Warning - they do gain at least 1/2 a size after an hour or so of wear.

Move on then. Those SBF's didn't work for me either! Have a shot of courage (and endurance) on me. It stinks that the Gap, of all places, didn't have much of a selection for you.

i think those would have worked with a different top and more rolled up but cest la vie. You need to feel fab.... I can commiserate on the pant issue. I have zero success shopping for bottoms at B&M stores. Most retailers don't carry tall pants in store.

Nope. The one pair of skinnies they had in my size were too long. Their 1969 jeans come in three lengths and they were very low on the shorter lengths, especially for the larger sizes. That's why I think I'd have more luck online. In that pic, the waist fits me perfectly, and the rest of the jeans are swimming on me. Blah. Not a good cut for me. Maybe I'll revisit if I size down at least three sizes....

Mochi, actually, I really truly believe it's not you, it's the jeans. If they were more tapered through the leg, they would be so much better. So, were you able to replace your other jeans?

Came back empty-handed. Stock seemed very picked over and sparse. I saw the ankle-skimmers (Angie would hate) and though they might have worked for short me as regular skinnies, I was not tempted. At least I know my size so I might go online and buy some things, but I'm not excited. Bootcuts are not my favorite but I look okay in them, and I don't feel like I want to invest in new jeans I may be sizing out of in the next few months.

I did try on a pair of boyfriend jeans and all I can say is, I have never felt like something looked so atrocious on me. It's so bad, I skip the usual self-blaming speech about my body type and all I can say is, this is an awful, awful cut for me. Maybe other apples can make it work, but I'm thinking I'm too apple-y...too much disparity in size between my belly and my legs. Ugh. I'm going to stay loyal to my skinny jeans!
