I've been contemplating this same question, because my black pumps are getting dated, but also not getting a lot of use. I finally realized that for work and conferences, I'm much more likely to wear a black, block-heeled bootie, with a 2-3" heel. I like the heel, but also the stability. And for dressier events, I'm enjoying having more fun with my shoes- bright colors, interesting heel shapes, etc. That combination of uses (black booties for more practical use, colorful pumps for dressy events) leaves the black pumps in a corner of my closet. So, for this season, I'm getting new red pumps, and a second pair of black booties, and forgoing replacement black pumps. We'll see how it goes. I'm keeping the old black pumps, just in case.

Of your choices, I would first think of how you plan to use them.

I especially like the black booties for longevity--the heel and shape of the overall bootie, plus the color, look like they will last quite a while. I bet you will still want a good pair of black pumps, though. I don't think they are interchangeable.

I've never worn booties with a dress. But I do like the shiny silver boots. They look like liquid silver!

I think they are really fun looking but not sure that the bootie-with-dress trend will be around for a long time. Will you get enough use out of them? Of course they could be worn with pants also.

They all look great -I particularly love the shiny silver, but it is a statement that will be less versatile. I tend to trash narrow heels like this, but I do think they read as dressier for dresses.

I have done this but vote for a more flat bootie to have traction on wet surfaces or a chunky block heel as a more current look. This style of bootie with a long area of the front not broken up makes my feet look ginormous, but my feet are big for my size. I have a pair very similar to your second find, bought to wear with dresses but mostly worn with pants so that the pant leg breaks up the long front expanse, yet the pointy toes can show.

All of them are chic. #2 can be worn nearly anywhere, day or night. #1 has futuristic vibes, which is ok if it harmonizes with your style. It is VERY shiny, though, so it may not be very versatile, and it MAY soon look worn and old. #3 looks great for partywear. Elegant, glamorous, fun and special.

I think that the middle pair will wear best, because the heel looks less vulnerable to damage. Nice selection!

I like the idea of trying something new and different. I personally like and wear booties with dresses often and have several pairs. I like all the booties shown. However, for the sake of longevity would go with #2 the safer option. Or #3 as an option "B". I love silver but they may not last a long (fashion wise). Just my 2 cents worth ;-)

Wow I love the silver or the glittery ones! They're quite out there, I would do it happily and I think maybe they will suit your personality? My only concern is that there's a lot of body weight riding on those teensy tiny heels?
I don't think those would date quickly but styles can change as we know.

I don’t understand. You’re considering replacing your pumps with low-heeled booties, but you already have a pair?

My old reliable pumps that I have had since the pointy toe came back in need replaced. They are only worn once or twice a year, but have always seemed a necessity. Last weekend I planned to wear them to a semi formal event. They had always fit, but they have gone the way most of my other shoes like this-slipping off my heels. Putting those heel pads in does not work for me-they still slip or then raise my foot height to make the bunion hurt. So I wore my heeled booties. This was the first time I tried booties with a dress. I like the look, so am considering a pair of dressier lower heeled booties. Since they are seldom worn what do you think of the longevity of some styles like these photos. I have dressy sandals for most of the year but need something for our few colder months.
