I got one this year at Zara which I love. It is sold out, but this one is similar in front. In back it has a peplum, I don't know if you want to add that kind of detail.

http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs.....D%20JACKET

I have another jacket that is brown canvas w/black faux leather sleeves. This one below is similar except a reverse concept (faux leather body, fabric sleeves). By the same brand, I felt the fit and look of it were very good for the price (I got mine on sale for just $69 but it would have been worth it at $99 as well).

Hard to go wrong with a real leather jacket. It's one of those things where you get what you pay for. Calf and lambskin are the softest, but also the most easily damaged. A jacket that is made from too stiff a leather will crease and tear and be uncomfortable to wear.

Love your outfit in picture #2. You do a dress and jeans really well. Two thumbs up!!

Cheers

I would go for real leather -- you can find some fab ones at very reasonable price points that should be of good enough quality to last you for years. I have one from Wilson's that my mom bought me 20 years ago which still is perfectly wearable even if a little worn -- the zipper, linings and edges are all still in good shape (I haven't worn it much in the last couple of years, but I will probably always keep it since its sentimental and reminds me of my late mom).

Last year I found a nice Michael Kors jacket in Nordstrom Rack -- you might try there for good deals. I also scored a Theory jacket at Marshall's.

I did something similar and scored a seemingly never worn one from Danier at my consignment store for very little. Has worn well and even survived being "driven over" by the drinks cart on the airplane Free distressing I guess. I then added one from Theory in another neutral shade at much higher $$ when I was sure I would actually wear this style. No regrets.

I would get leather if you can find one.

If you are from Canada, Danier seems to be the way to go.

In the US, Wilson's if you have one close to you.

It is nice to find a leather store like that as you have so many styles to try on at once.

I thrifted a pleather (Express) moto a couple of months ago as a proof of concept exercise - it was low cost, low risk way of exploring how a new item would fit with my (aspirational) style and how I would incorporate it into my outfits.

The moto turned out to be a true versatile workhorse, but the pleather is starting to peel away from the bottom and it's on its last legs :(

I feel justified in making a black moto one of my 12 items for this year. Since the CPW is low, I'm game for looking for leather or pleather -- ladies, do you have any recommendations?
