That's a great idea. There's sort of a few ways to go.
One would be a very statement piece, and one would be a more understated version.
Something that complements your eye or hair color is often very versatile. Or picks up or complements something you wear a lot, a color, material, texture, metal, etc.
And the other is to chose something that will pop.
Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

In the past, I had quite a bit of _real_ jewelry, some of it very me and some of it more sentimental but also workable with my style. Similar to what La Pedestrienne describes.

When I minimized radically, I re-homed these pieces.

I have fairly strong distaste for current costume jewelry; I don't think I'd want to own the kind of bling that's presented in this ensemble. But I'm feeling more open to experimenting and having fun with fashion.

Maybe I should look at finding _one_ necklace that's very me and would work with this look as well as others?

I looked through some of the items and of course, the first one that seemed really special to me was $800+ and rented for over $100.

If you aren't going for that level of specialness, I think a lot of those looks can easily be found for the same price or less, on sale at many stores, or at Nordstrom Rack or other outlets. Or thrift/consignment store. If you don't want to keep them you could wear them once and then consign or donate them.

For a while we had almost an event a year in another state. My SIL hates to shop, and she is the same size as several of her friends, so she often borrowed dresses. Maybe you know someone you can borrow something from?

I think it depends on your relationship with jewelry. If your interest is purely to switch up your look on a regular basis or add bling for a specific event, this might make sense. If you buy a lot of random pieces that only get worn once, a rental service may actually save you money, and will certainly save space. I could also see this being a good idea if you want to try out a lot of different looks because you haven't figured out your style preferences and aren't ready to invest in "real" jewelry without knowing exactly what works for you.

Personally, I do not wear jewelry unless it has some sentimental value or a bit of symbolism/significance -- like others have said, signature pieces. I like my jewelry to feel like an extension of me, not like a costume piece -- so these types of services do not particularly interest me.

I think Lisa at the blog Amid Privilege did a review of Rocksbox awhile back. http://amidprivilege.com/2015/04/rocksblox/

what el cee said. i'd rather have my own. my jewelry is so distinctive that they become signature pieces. they're horse choker and pretty immune to fashion. actually, this whole dainty jewelry trend is cramping my style!

This is an interesting concept. I am more inclined to "own my own bling". But I can see this being a great option for someone who craves a lot of variety in their jewelry/accessories and (perhaps) does not have a whole lot of space for storing their pieces. I am not aware of any other bling rental services, but you have made me curious enough to go check. :-)

Has anyone rented necklaces or other bling?

I like the casual layers and bling ensemble, and since I don't want to permanently add jewelry to my wardrobe, was looking at this:
https://www.renttherunway.com/.....d&

PPW seemed reasonable, even on some of the pricier pieces, in the context of frequent casual wear. But then I realized I was conflating bagborroworsteal's terms and expecting a 30-day rental window!

Any other options for this?
