Hi Rita, I would love to see the boots on you. I think you should keep the ones you like. For what its worth, I think wearing booties successfully has something to do with proportions, balance, hem lengths so while I understand the comments in your older post I have no doubt you can rock these booties

Ah, now I get what you mean . . . I had a bit of an issue with booties myself this last week or two. I wanted to be able to wear them with skirts and skinnies. Mine was more a gap, than a color, issue but many things can make booties with skirts tricky I think. It was important enough to me to go with ones that were not my original color choice, but I am so in love with them anyway that I don't really care!!

@Denise, my real size is 5.5 w, I usually have to size up to a 6 in flats for the width. The 6 is fine, just a tiny bit snug like all of my shoes. I imagine they'll stretch out a tiny bit.

The shoes are beautiful, I'll be wearing them as soon as it stops raining around here. WIW's to come

Details? Pictures? Rita I have small and wide feet like yours and am looking for shoes that will fit. I had to return the fab "Nugent" leopard booties from Matisse that Angie wears, way too narrow even when I sized up.

Regarding which ones, it's hard for me to say without seeing them, but I would use this logic. Do you have more occasions to wear light booties with a skirt or dress? Or do you have more occasions calling for a darker bootie with skinny jeans?

I learned to take YLF advice, I don't trust my own eyes too much any more. I was stuck in an all black style rut for much too long. I gladly accept all constructive criticism these days.

I'm going to keep the darker pair, I think they'll work with more jeans and dark skinnys outfits. I have other pumps and boots I can wear with skirt outfits.

I get around remixability by having a small wardrobe. If I only have 10 work outfits and a handful of casual outfits, I can afford to have one pair of shoes that works best with each outfit. If I had 20-30 work outfits it would seem a little more crazy to have one pair of shoes for each outfit.

MG: I think when you featured the tall nude boots some commented that the look was a little off to their eye with that particular outfit? You cannot please a 100% of the people a 100% of the time. If you like it and it looks good in real life then that's what its all about. Just like I'll always be a lot more comfortable with waist surrender than you likely will?

Go with your gut.

I think it depends on the size and variation of your wardrobe. Personally, extreme remixability is not a huge priority for me because I have a pretty large and varied wardrobe, although I do like to be able to wear an item with at least a couple of different outfit combinations.

Since you already have light colored boots, I'd say go for the darker ones that you like better. Even if you only wear them with pants, you have tons of different pants outfits you could wear them with, and I assume you have other boots/shoes to wear with skirts. Although I think you should show us how they look with skirts... I don't see why they wouldn't work!

Rita, what do you mean you got "called" on it? Did people think it was a less flattering look for you?

Thinking about your boot collection, I know you already have a fab light pair. True, they are tall...but for wearing with skirts, this is fine (and what you were after, no?) So if the darker ones sing to you more AND bookend your hair, it sounds like a winning combo.

What do you mean you got called on it? Here? I really love the look of booties with skirts and dresses, so I'm guessing I wouldn't call you on it :)! Why couldn't you wear dark booties with skirts/dresses? With your dark hair, I would think it would be easy-peasy. At any rate, I agree that you should go with the ones that you love. And, how savvy of you to order two pairs!!

You wear what you like, and sometimes you don't realize you don't like something until you aren't wearing it. Since you already know you have a preference, don't risk it - stick with the darker pair.

What's more important to you, the versatility of an item or if it is a perfect complement to a certain outfit or kind of outfit?

I ordered two pairs of the Matisse booties to try. They both have a beautiful ombre pattern, fit perfectly and are very comfortable.

One of them is light and the other is much darker. I think I like the darker ones better for me because I have dark hair. I plan to wear them with skinny's and jeggings this fall and winter.

I think the lighter ones would be more versatile because I could potentially wear them with skirts, like Angie wore during fashion week. I used to do this a lot but I got called on it the last few times I tried it. I'm not sure if it's worth keeping the lighter ones that I like slightly less just in case I want to wear them with skirts.
