Wow, that dress is amazing! You look great in it.

As for the shoe issue, I agree that in theory you shouldn't feel self-conscious about it, and I'd imagine that nobody would actually notice, but if it's on your mind it will probably put you off wearing the shoes much. At least, it would for me.
Just repeating what everyone else is saying...# 4 and # 5. There is a little more going on in # 4 than you usually do...and I like it very much. Very soft and feminine, but polished casual.

My vote goes to #4 because I like the blouse better than the top in #2 which looks a bit sporty on my monitor; #4 just seems more feminine and dressy. I would go with whichever footwear is best for the temperature. #1 has a tailored work wear vibe and seems overly crisp for the occasion. Funny how our eyes change, isn't it?

I sure love that dress on you. Sigh. I hope you are able to wear it sans wrap on The Big Day because it would be such a shame to cover it up at all.
Rambling Ann, thanks for photo-op advice! I am not too camera-savvy about what works in photos re: pattern and color compared to what I think, and my own photos for WIW are so poor I don't trust them.
Hmm--some SYC and options! I'll do some pants comparisons with respective tops.

Not sure how important the photos of the events are for your DD, but the MOTB dress should look fantastic in the formals (no shawl). I think 4 will photograph best at the rehearsal dinner, esp if a loved one (not a pro) is taking those shots.

I hear you on shopping for bunion feet. It would be so rude to think of someone's feet issues as unsightly and needing to be covered. It's not a shameful deformity, if there was such a thing. If they are comfortable and you love them, that's what counts.

Good luck to DD for the wedding of her dreams and a happy fulfilling marriage.

ETA: the thing about #4 is that the lighter color above the waist and simpler pattern is more photo-bullet-proof. Black bottoms should look fine in the photos.

Thank you for helping me focus! I do like the non-fringe. It will be warm (high 82 but expect a bit cooler in evening) so I think I'll just have to hope I don't need a real wrap for super warmth so the dressier one is better for looks, and hey, it's a wedding. Also will stick with no jewelry--thanks for support. The dress has a lot going on. Earrings would be great if I had pierced ears but I'm not wearing clip-ons for this!

I will aim to use one of the slouchy pants. I'm leaning toward something with the black because I think it's actually more conservative-looking especially in restaurant lighting, but of course the gray would go more summery. It's such a weird thing how my "eye" has shifted and so I'm a bit off balance with some of my former outfits.

Suz, the pointy-toe flats are comfortable enough to wear, but I'm trying to see if I need to focus on hiding my foot bump or if it's not a big deal. I think the deal for me is, the shoes are to be stylish and add texture and shine, and so if the bump negates the style quotien--hey, look at the lady with the decorated callous-- there's no point in having this particular shoe. I'm conflicted because I just fell in love with them, and I might be pretending maybe everyone has bumpy feet showing, when there will be other shoes that provide more reassuring coverage.

This is hard work, isn't it? I will be posting my own MOTG outfits soon so I realize how important it is for honest feedback.

So, back to your rehearsal dinner outfits: I really like 2 and 4. 4 seems more casual to me and 2 a little more dressed up-not too trendy and I if it were me I would err on the side of a little more dressed up.

For the MOTB dress: LOVE 7-gorgeous and I prefer the first silky wrap without the fringe.

Well, I agree with the above answers - #4 and 5 are gorgeous! I like the track pants outfit although I know what you mean - I am always worried about looking like I am trying to be trendy. So maybe try the same top/jacket with other pants to see if something feels more comfortable to you? Otherwise, I think #4 looks quite stunning.

You look stunning in that dress. Wear with confidence and pride. I prefer no fringe on the wrap, and no necklace.

I also love outfit #4 and do not think it reads as casual. Just relaxed, comfortable, and yet a bit dressy.

I also think #2 can work depending on the weather. On a sunny evening I'm personally veer more towards the lighter colours. But if it wee a bit rainy....another matter.

You are going to look spectacular!!

A shame about those pretty flats.

I’m sorry I have been scarce on the forum as have been crazy trying to get work battened down and also help DD with wedding items, now down to the wire!

I would love any input on both the Friday dinner outfit ideas and on some accessories for MOTB dress.

Our family dinner Friday night (not a true rehearsal) before the wedding will be in a relatively informal restaurant. My DD is dressing up a bit with a chic peplum dress and heels, but she does not expect others to be as dressy. We do not know most of the groom’s family and haven’t had much “dress code” discussion so I think I am erring on dressier or “smarter”,maybe, to be sure I honor his family’s occasion. My own relatives, including GOTB and older aunts, are not likely to be very dressy or trendy. I want to wear pants in air-conditioning. I’m stuck on how modern or traditional to go and whether I have what I need to do either, or something else.

Pic 1: I had always thought I would do tan/khaki pants and linen jacket with some color added via top and accessories because that’s been my summer style. Shown is such outfit but with not the right pants—my slightly slimmer cut pants are at the tailor’s. Still, it looks totally blah and frumpy than seems right to me now. After the photo I realized a more dressy or interesting top & bag would help-doh. The pants are at the tailor because I had had the hem let down on a petite size, but the crease never came out, so I’m having them re-hemmed back up! Problem there is that I have to wear a very flat shoe with those pants.

#2 is track pants and a possible floral jacket—Laundry from TJMaxx. Shown with peep-toe wedges, which I normally would never wear for my own family restaurant dinners or “casual,” but could for this to dress up the pants, and I like the look. Would cover up the drawstring via some kind of top styling and not do semi-tuck for this event.

Can’t show any new outfits with the EF gray silk pants because they’re also at tailor to take up waist. But shown in # 7 is a reprised photo from when I first tried some stylings. Honestly the gray is a little harder for me to style right now because it seems to call for lighter tops & jackets & footwear, so not sure I have it all together yet, but comments are welcome. There is an interesting difference in the pants, in that the gray silk is more luxurious in a way, but the pants are longer and scrunch more at the ankles, while the black doesn’t “show” so much detail and may be less "in your face" as a relaxed pant.

Also shown are trial Lucky metallic pointy toe flats that I thought would really be fresh, but I may not be able to keep—they are cut just where my bunion or callous peeks out, and though it doesn’t hurt, I think it may be bad to show a knobby part of foot and I will just have to stick to a higher-cut shoe.

Because I’m not sure of “the crowd,” I feel more at a loss for what I’m aiming for.

Final pics are :

--MOTB dress with 2 wraps. One is silky gray no fringe that I think looks more formal but isn’t very warm. The fringed one is a “water” pashmina which is a lightweight blend. It is bigger and a bit warmer but I don’t like fringe as much and it’s a lighter gray.

--MOTB dress shown with gray faux pearl necklace because I've got so much neck, vs my original plan was to forego any necklace due to the high neckline and sequin detail.

Questions for the Fabbers include:

Please point me in some direction! I like the track pants outfit proportions (other solid tops are possible options) but was worried--are any kind of slouchy or track pants too informal for such event? Or maybe worse, would I look like I’m trying too hard to be “trendy ”? Is the black outfit too much black for warm spring weather, or do the other bright colors help? Is the linen blazer “safer” and more traditional if I could figure out less frumpy pants and top, if it’s not too late? Or go back to SYC and find some other options?

2) Comments on wraps and necklace yay or nay.
