Isn't it interesting how there really is a red for everyone? Deep cool cherry is my brightest, too, and it does make me happy. I have cherry red leather gloves and wellies, and if I saw your loafers in a store display, I'd be drawn to them like a magnet. Go for it!

I was about to buy a metallic burgundy red loafer at Zara's winter clearance the other week. I turned it down at the time I wasnt sure if it would go with the other warm toned colors predominately in my wardrobe. I should have bought them, my warm wardrobe could use some cool tones for contrast.

Go ahead and buy the cute red ones unfrumped!

L’Abeille, I am wearing suede in summer if I can- if there something that links it to summer vibe. My feet live shed and it’s not too hot for me. Lighter colors DO “ read” better— pale grays or blush.
The light-colored soles make them in some ways less versatile- even more casual- but to me let me skew summer.

smittie- I do prefer more subdued color in footwear. Not a problem for tops and toppers though. So my task is to see if I’ll feel too statement-y. The style seems conservative- preppy (?) so maybe that helps. I would likely keep other aspects neutral but maybe with tiny bit of red elsewhere.
Angie- thanks. We shall see!

I like those red ones, @unfrumped.
Do you wear brighter shades in spring/summer?

I too prefer a more burgundy or subdued red. These look pretty subdued, but still a bit of a statement.

They are gorgeous. And I am always in favour of red shoes. But... are you planning these for your spring and summer wardrobe? Will the suede be too hot for summer? Or "feel" too hot aesthetically?

Maybe not. I have mint suede loafers that are perfect in summer. These just give me a fall vibe, is all. Also, I want to wear them NOW, and I have a real hard time extrapolating to a season I am not currently in.

Very inspired by your diligence in trying on outfits before deciding whether or not to keep the shoes. I like that shade of red a lot. And think it will make a nice tonal mix with burgundy. I hope they work out!

Three years ago, I bought red shooties. Officially, I didn’t need them, and they were “fun” shoes. I’ve worn them at least once/week, every winter, and still get compliments. Turned out to be one of my best purchases ever.

So, if they work with your outfits, I vote, “keep.” I’ve never regretted my red shoe purchase.

Suz, we’ll see. I am making myself look at things as having to make outfits. In theory things we love should all “ go together “, but I’m so picky about vamps and such.

JAileen, all the loafers are heel- slipping on me these days . It didn’t used to be such a problem. I’m trying another brand in a narrow size, hoping the cut of the toebox is roomy enough.

They both look really nice. I tried the Whitney when I was looking for navy shoes. They slipped off my heel too much. I ended up with Naturalizers which were very comfy.

I blame Suz for shoe madness posts and Angie for Red Shoes reports.

I am trying the Bass cherry red tassel loafer. I have not worn yet as need some weekend time to do outfit tryons.
Here are the odd aspects: 1)
“ my red” would be burgundy, as brighter reds can make me feel self- conscious. However, if red, this cooler, darker cherry is pretty good.
2) I was swearing off any toe-taper as I need rounder toe box. These are almond toe.
Pros: 1)they feel really comfortable. Not HIKING comfortable, but really good cushioning, and the toe taper isn’t sharp, and the suede helps( intentional choice)
2) the slightly tapered toe gives them an aesthetic I love but was being careful about due to my feet. This “ look” can work better with skirts as well as some ankle/ cropped pants.
So, a problem is that if I keep them, they would be “ extra” , fun shoes. I still need to update and replace some rounder- toed loafers. I’ve tried LOADS of loafers and am really having trouble with comfort+ fit + looks. Surprising to me. ( other Find of Weejuns style I had assumed would work- haven’t tried the suede but tried others and NOT comfy).
Hence I am going to have to do some serious try- ons of S/S outfits to see if they work as I would intend- to add a type of style at adequate comfort level that’s worth the closet space and would get enough wears— don’t want to just “ collect “ and save them but use them. This means hauling out the wardrobe items and existing footwear for comparison.

For this who are real red shoe aficionados, these are comfy to try.
