Have you tried Kut from the Kloth? I don't have the bootcuts, only some straights and I've tried the colored skinnies which fit well; the material is nice and thick and they are very accomodating of pear shapes. You might have to size down.

I don't see many around any more, but I know they used to make bootcuts/flares in colors. Here is one on Amazon (only available in size 2 now though).

You look great, that's a killer color!

I have a brick red pair that I wear a lot. They were listed as skinnies but they fit me like straight legs. I'm bigger than you so I wear my tops a little longer with them. I think the proportions work better for me.

I get mine from Diane Gilman on HSN. I have red flares and aqua, lime, fuchsia and purple bootcuts! I love that they also come in petite length. I'm short, 5' and curvy! http://www.hsn.com/shop/diane-gilman/88

I'm glad i'm not the only one who can't find bootcut colored denim.

I totally agree about the substantial fabric. Thinner fabrics show everything. And the jeans I talked about above are thinner than I would ideally like.

I have been loving colored pants this last six months - cobalt and turquoise and even pink. I bought some red ponte pants but have lost some weight and they are too loose - I need to find out about returning them.
I think if you pair them with a good top (meaning in shape - something to balance) that any shape can wear colored bottoms.

Really HARD (impossible?) to find a good colored bootcut though.

I would love a pair of colored bootcuts but they seem to be impossible to find. Especially since high-waisted jeans do not work on my short torso!

I surprised myself by liking white Paige jeans on me, although they are straights, not skinnies. I have cobalt blue skinnies from JBrand, but those are as bright as I've been willing to go. I really have never craved red pants. I tried on some mint green ones but they were too thin and seemed to show every lump and bump -- ick! That convinced me that I should stick with darker colors and more substantial weight fabrics as much as possible.

I am an hourglass and was very reluctant to get any brightly colored bottoms for fear of drawing the eye to the largest part of my body. To my surprise, I purchased a pair of red velvet skinnies and love wearing them. I purchased a size larger so that the pants fit a little looser around my hips yet still hug my legs. This made me feel more comfortable. I get to wear all my neutral tops and sweaters.

Although not denim, you might look at these curvy fit boot cut cords by Talbots in bright colors:

Yeah, I'm right there with you, Pear. Craving a pair of fun pants but not looking to draw the eye to my ample lower half. I'll be interested to see how the others weigh in on this subject.

I have always been weary of buying colored denim. I thought that they would make my thighs look bigger and to make matters worse, colored and patterned denim always comes in super skinny jean types making thick thighs look even more like sausages. I found a pair of red skinny jeans from LOFT's "curvy" line and while they are still skinny, I think the mid rise makes them work.
More details here: http://bit.ly/XIGI3E

What does everyone else think about colored denim for people with thicker thighs and hips? Has anyone found bootcut colored jeans? Ideally I would loooovee a pair of high waisted boot cut or flare colored denim
