None of those tops are quite as tomato as I like. Ever so slightly fire engine - but well on their way to tomato.

unfrumped, it's a new description for me, so I wasn't sure what they intended. Cooler than tomato red is usually good for me. But you're so right, sometimes the names are ridiculously inaccurate! I went ahead and ordered all the things I was interested in. ;)

Joyce, since they were all Halogen I was guessing they should be consistent. The skirt is 1901 but they're still all Nordstrom brands, so I'm hoping for at least some consistency. The good news is that I won't be keeping duplicates! Even I don't need eleventy-one red shirts...

UF for sure you would have to see it in real life but all the items are Halogen and the line so far seems to have pretty consistent colors. That plus Angie’s description of a blue red is the best guess one can make that they have a very good chance to work without seeing the pieces.
I love that shade of red btw but must refrain from adding more to my NAS.

I thinks it’s a descriptor for a bright red , maybe what some would ” true red”, but will be used by different makers for variations on the theme. Kinda like “lipstick red”. I do think of it as cooler than “ tomato red” but, you never know. I’m always amazed at how inventive, or mysteriously inaccurate, color names can be.
If an item really appeals, I think you’d have to see it IRL.

Angie said it was a blue red in her NAS picks summary for this skirt which is said to be red chinoise. Maybe the tops are, too.

I'm shopping tops at the moment, and I'm seeing a lot of red tops have the same exact name: Red Chinoise. Those who have seen these, what kind of red is it? It's looking a bit tomato/orange red on my screen. Is it that in real life? More of a true red? Pink red? Brick red? Tomato red is the one red color that's not so great on me, so I'm trying to figure out if I should even attempt to order any of these.
