I was really hesitant about buying my first cape - and now I have 3! Two cropped (one black and one white) and now a longer line black cape. They work for me because my climate is mild - my capes are less warm than a jacket - a similar warmth to wearing a cardigan.  Fashintern - I think you make a good point about the colour of my red boots. I like these because whilst they are red, they are a darker shade than my more vibrant bag. For some reason a red bag I can handle, but very vibrant boots, not so much. Angie - whilst I have collected some great pieces over many years (one advantage of being older!), thanks to you and the YLF community to help me work out how to wear them. There is nothing worse than owning something beautiful, yet it feels off-kilter when worn. Jussi - I love these Zara knits. I duplicated this in grey, ivory and light pink. In my recent closet edit, I let go of the first versions and was so happy to have a new duplicate to wear. They are great layering pieces, but I also like the pearl button detail. Aquamarine - I would not have tried this combination except for Angie talking of superheroes. I love that about YLF, often it will make me wear something in a new and better way. I can now see how I can get my red boots to work for me, I just need to balance them out. I love my red boots - but don't wear them as much as I expected to. I think Angie summed it up perfectly when she said: They can look jarring and “super hero” in an outfit, but that’s their charm. Wear bright red boots and be noticed. It’s high time we connected with our inner Wonder Woman. So, embracing my inner Wonder Woman, I decided it was high time to wear the boots and add a cape. Surprisingly, I felt really good in this and not like I was in dress up. For me, sometimes two dramatic elements sort of balance each other out making the outfit feeling less jarring. Cape - Cue Grey knit - Zara basics Grey skinny jeans - J Brand Red bag - Samantha Thavasa Red boots - XSA (about 5 years old and only worn occasionally) I think I will make a bit more effort to wear these boots as I enjoyed wearing them. All comments and suggestions are appreciated!
