Glad you found your vest, and I really like the color combos on it. The silver CK is great, too, now you are making me wish I needed one.

Update: the North Face reversible vest finally arrived, and it's the winner!

I had ordered the new Columbia vest too (basically the newer, lighter version of what I already had, in the proper size), and it was nice, but the fit is a little snug on the hip and slightly long in the torso on me, so I patiently waited for the North Face one. When I tried it on, it was clearly much more suited to my build. I had just gotten home from a long walk in the woods with Sunny, and sure enough I looked down and realized I was wearing a North Face hoodie and a North Face windbreaker. Lesson finally learned -- North Face cuts work really well for me!

I had also found another contender that I'll share in case anyone else has similar needs. This Calvin Klein vest has elasticized side panels so the fit is really great for accommodating curves. If I needed a second one (hmm, maybe to leave at the ranch), I'd get this.

I ordered one from Land's End but it hasn't arrived yet...but with their current sales (45% off right now) it won't hurt if I have to return. I still have no idea how to use finds, but they have a blue that looks cobolt-ish and a teal that is very pretty, similar to the NF one you ordered.

I love nano puffs, and that blue green color would be great on you. Nano puffs are warmer than any others and are really good layered under coats on very cold days. (Maybe not needed for Ballmer.)

I also have a couple of vests from J Crew. I love them all. Two are not very sleek, but the primaloft is (they don't have a this-year version, though.)

Adding -- I do have a couple of older Athleta vests, but they are very gear-ish and that's how I wear them.

I did find these Columbia vests on Amazon (can't do a find from my phone for some reason). Nice colors and since I had good experience with my old Columbia, the fit of one of these might work.

I saw a cute patterned one in Athleta a while back, but the fit was all wrong for me -- too long in the body and too straight. I fear JCrew might be similar.

Thanks, all!

The available colors of the Uniqlo and JCrew ones don't really appeal to me, but the Patagonia looks like a good possibility.

I can also recommend the Uniqlo light weight down vests. I've had one for about 2 years - washes well, not too long, and the price is right. But it only works for moderately cold temps.

I love the one I got from jcrew factory a few months back. Not sure if they still have it, but it is perfect for our Texas cold snaps - I wore it this weekend when we were at a higher elevation and it was great. It is also down filled, not poly filled so I don't have the annoying static charge I get with the poly filled versions.

ETA: They still have them on a great sale price too. Find below. Colors are pretty classic and the hardware is gold (which I personally like).

ETA: I was gifted with one from Lands End that is a great vest, but runs long. They may have a shorter one.

Have you looked at Patagonia's Nanopuff vest? It's very lightweight. It stuffs into one of the pockets.

Have you looked at Uniqlo? I don't see the color that you have in mind but maybe you will see something. Their ultalite down vests look about waist length and there is a sale right now for on line purchases.

Replying to myself to add that I just ordered this one from Nordstrom Rack. If it fits, it would be perfect for me. Keeping fingers crossed, but still welcome suggestions!

I have an old teal Columbia down vest that I love, but it's always been snug (bought it in a S back when I was about 15 lbs down from where I am now). I still wear it, but it's time to replace it with something I can zip up. I think I got it at Marshalls or the like, so I might check out the discount shops for a replacement, but I thought I'd also see if you all have any recommendations.

I would like a color in my usual blue-green range, or maybe purple or silver. A cool print would work. No black or really dark colors -- I like to be visible in the woods. I need a cut that works for a short, curvy torso -- many of these vests are too long or too narrow in the hip for me. I want it to be lightweight and packable would be great. I don't need anything bulky or heavy. I'd prefer to keep it under $100, maybe up to $150 if it's really amazing. :-)

Thanks in advance!
