Ryce, I was looking at the Simple Human ones. I'm intrigued, and I like how clean and modern they look, but I'm not crazy about the chargeable thing -- I have an outlet readily available so battery reliance seems unnecessary. I also want something that provides both a 1x and magnified option.

I'm still looking so more suggestions are welcome!

I've been lusting after this one. A friend recomended it, but I don't have personal experience with it.

Karen, that's really helpful. My old one is a Conair and the light is not terribly bright on mine either -- I don't realize and leave mine on sometimes too!

We are about to get better lights installed in our bedroom, and we have a lot of windows, but I'd rather have too much light than not enough. Sometimes it just seems the mirror light is totally inadequate so I'm looking for bright light. :-)

Jane, I will look into John Lewis -- thanks!

I think I have the Conair Reflection LED from looking at the Amazon listing I have put below. I bought it about 3 years ago. I had thought it was 10X but it must only be 7X per the description. The light is not very bright even on high. It is easy to accidentally leave it on without noticing. I like the oval shape. Ideally I would like more light and a telescoping neck to be able to adjust the height, but that might not be a problem at a vanity.

In the U.K. There are AMAZING lit magnified mirrors from John Lewis. I've seen them and the effect is stunning. They are in the region if £100 which I think is a lot for a mirror but they are amazing. I haven't quite had the courage for that level of investment but may be one day. I will see if I can link the details or take a photo - I'm sure there must be a supplier nearer to you. Your new dressing table is lovely.

Hi gang,

Our bathroom renovation plan has eliminated my desire for a makeup vanity in the bath (the room is just a bit small for everything we want to put in there!), so I'm upgrading my current bedroom makeup vanity arrangement. The old one was pretty makeshift -- a cheap small table with an antique mirror on top and antique stool which came from my childhood home.

I bought a new vanity with a fold-up mirror, and matching stool, and put it together last night. Now I need to replace my old lighted mirror because it doesn't really produce enough light or magnification for my taste.

Any recommendations for a tabletop lighted mirror with good bright light, and a good magnification side? A clean contemporary style is preferred. I have found one from Conair on Amazon that looks promising but thought I'd ask if you all have any experience you'd like to share.
