Bummer about the shrinkage with the green sweater. It is a pet peeve of mine when clothes are washed one time and shrink. I have sometimes been able to save a knit that shrunk by stretching it when wet, not sure if that will help you.

1 and 3 are both lovely with the red pants. The pop of color with the pants really livens up these classic outfits. 4 is my favorite, you rock the French girl look and that shade of green in the blazer is quite lovely on you!

Suz - I think a variety of toppers is needed - I always think one will suffice but it really does not.....

Lise - I do like and feel good in a blazer. I will experiment with the sweater - there is no harm in trying yours and Angie's suggestions.

Jenni - I agree - the first scarf tying just doesn't really suit me - nor feel in my comfort zone.

Lisa- I see what you mean haha! I think there are lots of small factors that make the outfit not quite right. I do like the pieces individually.

Thanks Pirouette. I think I am more of a blazer girl than any other type of jacket.

Lyn - I will wear the blazer again and show you a better picture. The light was against me and it was not a great shot at all.

Thanks Angie - I will leave the scarf for our coldest days or travelling. I love that cardigan and agree that sort of style would work well - I will keep an eye open for one. And will try pressing the sweater!!

Dee - I am wearing the green cord blazer and scarf today with cream jeans and my Mary Janes. I will share a photo next week!!

Thanks Carla -much appreciated.

The monomprix top is a winner, the Maryjane’s render the outfit modern/current (and are so cute!) and the longer length jacket looks luxe/rich. Carry on!

Yep, I'm seeing the french influence in these combos too.
Photo#1 love those red pants, but I hear you on those bigger scarves, I find them overwhelming to wear as strictly a fashion accessory.
I really like your cream cardigan, shame its pulling up, maybe SUZ 's hack might help stop this.
Cute knit tee from Monoprix, I'll have to check them out when I get to Paris.
Outfit#4 looks great, such a lovely colour combo. Scarf looks perfect on you here. You might also try your Mary Jane's with this combo too.

Great to see you and your outfits again, Sal!

#1 - Those red pants are KILLER. Love them on you!! Boots aren't dated - although if you've have enough of them - say goodbye. Nothing dated about the forever fab semi-tuck ;)

For the scarf, if it were mine - I'd cut off the fringe and tie it into a Euro knot. Keep it for cold weather layering. And leave it at that! Fab colour on you.

#2 - Can't help but think you'd prefer a V-neck cardigan - see Find below for styling suggestion. That said - the outfit looks good, and try Suz's styling idea! Also think the cardigan needs a bulkier scarf. (Like in #4).

Love #3 and #4! KILLER cute! You wear chunky sneakers and aviators with the best of them! The scarf in #4 has the right proportions for your height. Looking FABULOUS in your skinnies!! And the new gingham sweater is playfully chic.

KILLER new blazer in #6! You wear that length perfectly Loving the on trend Mary Janes and white bag too.

Try PRESSING length into your pea green V-neck pullover that shrunk. With a steam iron. I suspect it can be saved.

So frustrating with the sweaters-but have no solutions I'm afraid. Then, I am so happy to see the green cord blazer in action and it is indeed so fab as I expected! Wow! Loved the black and white knit with the red pants, too- sharp! Then I would have died to see the blazer coat but pictie is taken against the light/windows so I really cannot see any detail...sobbing:-)

I like all of these looks! My thoughts when I see the first outfit though are that the eye is drawn straight to the (ugh, how do I describe this ?) crotch/stomach area because the semi-tuck is right in front. If you like the semi-tuck look, maybe try it off to the side instead of right in front of. I do like the colour combo here of navy, lilac, red . Scarf looks a bit bulky though for everyday wear - maybe loosen it up a bit and wear it unknotted ?

It is said to soak the knit in fabric softener and then stretch it while wet. Do not rinse the softner out immediately, only later. I tried it and it did not work but mine was a really tight knit rib. No harm in trying though before you donate it.

I like 2,3,5 and 6 better than 1 and 4. I agree that somehow the scarf in 1 doesn’t really look like you? I don’t think the boots look dated. You just might be getting a bit tired of them? One benefit of having a large shoe wardrobe is no one pair gets worn as often :)
I love the look of the cream cardigan on you, personally, but I do like cardigans and often wear them in summer for this purpose. Maybe the unbuttoning trick will help.
I love the new T-shirt and long blazer on you. The green blazer is a good colour on you too.
So sorry about the shrinkage of the green jumper No ideas sorry.

I hear you on the topper issue! With a climate like ours with longish transitional seasons with cooler mornings and evenings, the need for a light topper that is easy to carry and goes well with many outfits is 100% real.

For me, a denim jacket can fill this need in some circumstances, but only if I have the right one and not always. I also like a light cardigan for this purpose, even though I'm not, on the whole, crazy about cardigans! I also sometimes just use a cotton pullover sweater that still looks good over whatever top I am wearing. Below, various items in my closet that are sometimes pulled into this kind of service. The blazer is really only for spring/ summer. The cashmere hoodie only for cooler temps. Despite having various options, I still don't feel I've fully cracked this puzzle.

You are right Suz - I need to keep that scarf for cold winter days and practical reasons rather than "fashion" ones.

And I will try the cream cardigan more undone - I haven't gravitated much to cardigans as I prefer either sweaters or jackets - but that casual topper is a wardrobe hole that persists year after year for me....

Sal you look terrific. Love the new long jacket and think you will definitely get your wear from it. The B&W check top is also a lot of fun.

For outfit 1, the colous are all great on you. But you are tired of the boots, and you have never enjoyed having your neck wrapped up tight. It's just not you. Scarves are useful at times (definitely in my own climate!) but they are not for everyone. I find mid-length hair like yours makes scarf wearing much harder. The scarf and hair are in the same area (more or less) and it can feel fussy.

I am with Slim Cat real the second cardi. Try it with a few buttons on top undone and/or a few on the bottom undone for a "lite" version of the look in Angie's blog post today. Obviously, this cardi is boxier and shorter than those jackets but you might feel a greater sense of freedom and openness with those small tweaks. However, if it pulls every time you wear, that is not a good sign for future happiness! I might start looking for a replacement/ upgrade. We cannot always predict these problems in advance and footwear and knitwear, in particular, seem prone to causing disappointment.

It is so frustrating that the new green sweater has already shortened. I think it will drive you crazy now so you are probably best to let it go. But you could try blocking the green sweater.

Slimcat - will try button undone, that might help. I have three pairs of jeans, the slim straight, the true straight in pic 6 and my cream wide leg. I will repeat the outfit with the other pairs of jeans and potentially changing the shoes as well.

The black&white Monoprix is great - works in every outfit!
White cardigan is great basic - I'd try it with top button undone ( and may be playing with scarf a bit ).
I like the cord blazer and scarf - could it be paired with slightly relaxed blue jeans? ( if there is one in your collection? I'm seeing a lot of straight relaxed jeans from every brand now ).
Long blazer coat loos fun on you - nice addition to your wardrobe!

I also like the pattern mix in #4 and the jacket color is so good! You should certainly wear the jacket in #6 as often as possible - fantastic cut!

Here are a few pics - some dating from early August and a couple more recently in September. All of these have been worn to work.

1) I like this scarf that I was given by a work colleague - but I rarely wear it. I tried with navy and red, This outfit is okay but I don't love it - suggestions are welcome? I think the boots look a bit dated as does the front tuck.
2) I purchased this off white cardigan in the efforts to find mid weight toppers. Worn here with a silk scarf, I liked this in theory more than in reality.
3) My new knit tee from Monoprix, worn with the rusty red pants. This felt a bit better for me - a bit crisper and sharper.
4) New cord blazer and silk scarf from Paris. Oh how I want to be a cool French girl. I think this works - wearing my slim straight jeans.
5) Worn to a conference - navy suit and same new knit tee, this was right on par for dress expectations and felt very appropriate.
6) To work and heading out tonight after work - new long blazer coat that I bought for the black tie event. I HAVE to wear this to work to get over paying so much for it!! I think this casual styling works. I will improve the hair and makeup for dinner later.

My knit wear frustrations are around:

1) My green sweater - new this year - only handwashed in cool water - has shrunk in length - it is now too short. Grrr.
2) The cream cardigan pulls, each time I wear it. I do like this, but I don't think it is as versatile as I hoped it would be. I hoped it would be that unicorn piece to go over dresses or summer tops at the start and end of the day.

I am going to donate or sell the green one, it rides up my back constantly. It has had about 20 wears but that's not enough for something that was supposed to hang around a while. But the length issue is just so irritating. Ideas on how to safely stretch are welcome!!
