Your decisions are spot on. Too bad about those red pants, as that style looks like it has great potential for you. The jeans are fab. I also bought them in my regular size and am thinking that's best for me.

I agree totally with your analysis. With the red pants, the smalls are too small. I'd like to see the mediums with the hems pinned or folded up, becasue I think they are possible... they don't look baggy in the crotch until you grab the material. At least, not in the photo. You know how they feel/fit.
The AG's are great. I'm considering those too, it's good to see your "these fit" version vs Janet's "these are roomy" version.
And the citron blouse doesn't do anything for you... nice colour, just not working (for me) overall.

The jeans look perfect! I like the (M) red pants too, nice if you want a pair of slouchy trousers (you would have to hem them). The slouchy fit of the M looks quite on trend. As for the citron top, I think I'd pass due to fit issues.

Good for you to get out and do some shopping in this weather. Too bad about the red pants. It's weird that they would have that kind of sizing. I hope you can find another pair of red pants as the color looks great on you. Love the jeans. Must add those to my wish list as they look amazing on you and Janet.

Love the color of those pants, Viva. Have you considered altering the mediums to fit? I had a similar fit issue with my very favorite pair of jeans that didn't fit so well after a weight loss. My very fab tailor took in the seam that goes through the crotch and up the back (hope that makes sense) and now they are great. Might be worth it if you know a tailor you can trust.

Love the Nikki jeans and agree with others on the citron top.

Before you return the size S red pants, try them with boyfriend shorts undies. I am wondering if this is all you need, to smooth away the panty lines?

Otherwise I don't know what the fabrication is but I find dress slacks tend to relax and stretch out after a day of sitting. The smalls may do that as well -- in which case, they may wind up being just right, not too tight.

As for the Nikki's I ordered those too -- I tried on yesterday and I'm thinking they are keepers but I need to try them on again and play around a bit. Mine fit me like yours, but are a tad tight in the waistband. Not unbearably tight, not create love handles tight, just a tad tight. Let me know if they give at all... I just need them to give a smidgen...

That's too bad about the red pants. I agree that they look just a tad too snug in the S and obviously too big in the M. But they would have been wonderful! If you have a BCBG in your area, maybe it would be worth it to see if they have more size S of this color in the store. Sometimes there are variations from garment to garment, and maybe you'll be lucky and find a larger one?

I love the jeans! I looked at the photos before I read your introduction, so I'm glad to see you're keeping them. They look super awesome!

Sorry to be a prophet about the citron, ha ha. I think that the top looks ill fitting instead of intentionally oversized. I personally find shopping for oversized tops very difficult because they never look right on me. It's not that I can't wear the trend; it's that there's too much material in all the wrong places.

You and I will both have to keep our eyes open for some fun citron pieces this spring! Right now I'm just looking for something that maybe has some citron detailing or something. Alexandra is really into citron, if I recall...maybe I will peruse some of her WIW's to see how she incorporates it.

It's such a pity that you are in-between sizes on the red trousers. They are SOOOO gorgeous.

The Nikkis look killer fabulous, and if you like them that size - I support it 100%. I preferred a looser fit, and therefore sized up. They are still much tighter than my BF jeans (which I wear very loose), and they don't need a belt to stay up. It does not make sense to size down in these. Then you might as well buy tight skinnies - which are available everywhere at much lower prices.

Thanks everyone!

Ramya, the top is from Karen Millen (this brand discovered through Angie, of course!). I bought it this fall at Bloomingdales.

Carter, my regular jean size is a 28, and that is what I bought and am wearing in the Nikkis. I think a 29 would have worked well too, but with a more BF fit.

Vicki, thank you about the red pants. It was tragic that they didn't work because I LOVED the color and had a dozen ways to wear them. But Glory is right, the difference between the S and the M is significant. I could have gone with a bit of slouch, but there was so much more material -- it really didn't show in the photographs, but they really felt like old man pants.

And JillG, thanks for the idea with the blouse -- and all others for the boost about wearing citron -- but the search will continue. That's just not the one.

What a shame on the red pants. It seems quite a difference between the small and medium. Would you consider reordering in both sizes to see if another pair was a wee bit different? I do think it might be worth it. The small are just a tiny bit too tight but I find the medium much too baggy.
The jeans are perfection.
I love the citron but agree the shape seems off. I think you must continue to hunt for something citron.

Viva, you need some red pants in your life, because when I saw photo 1, the color and fit on your body type is perfect, with the right size of course. If only, they were a tad bigger, because they do look gorgeous.

Lucky you on the AG Nikkis and a well-placed daughter (that's got to be great!).

As for citron, you can wear it, but I think the "feel" of the stiffness combined with the sleeve length would make this a closet orphan. Keep looking; you'll find what you want.

Ooh - so exciting!!

Those red pants -- what a pity! I see that the first ones are too small for sure. I can't really tell if the size up is genuinely too big or just on the loose side, but if you would be uncomfortable in them and feel ill at ease, that's a sign to send them back. The drape looks lovely, though.

The Nikkis are super fab!! And now you have me debating. I'm planning to order these (alas, not at a discount) and can't decide on a size up or my regular size....it's really tough. I'd actually like a fit somewhere between my very baggy BFs and a skinny. Will I get that in a size up or in my regular size. That's the question, and it seems to depend on body type. Argh. Wish I had free returns and no duties and all of that junk to deal with.

You look spectacular in citron. The blouse looks beautiful from what I can see, but it also sounds as if the fit issues make it a no-go. If it will bother you, send it back -- there will be other beautiful citron items available.

(Anthro discount, no way!) I see your hesitation about the top, and I never like unscrunchable sleeves myself. But you must find something else that color! I actually really love the idea of the red pants, too, but S-M-L sizing in women's pants seems impossible. I have a hard time with that even in yoga/gear pants, and for dress pants? I can barely find great fits when there are all the regular options! Hoping you can locate something similar.

Snow is just starting here!

I combatted the January blues with some shopping ... but thankfully (I guess) it's not all staying. Today there is major snow so I tried stuff on, and I had mixed results. Please weigh in with your thoughts.

First up: Red BCBG MaxAzria pants from Angie's blog post. Gorgeous pants, great recommendation from Angie. The problem? They are sized S-M-L. I appear to be a S+ or a M-. Pics 1&2 are the small. Chandler and Koda are sad that the pants are a bit tight, although the length is just perfect. Pics 3-5 are the Medium. Koda is worried about the dropped crotch (more apparent in 4) and the many inches of extra fabric at the bottom. These are going back. If you are a size 2-4 or an 8-10, you would love these beautiful pants. I think those of us who are more in the 4-6 range are out of luck.

Pics 6-11 show me in the AG Nikkis, also an Angie reco. I should note that I was able to purchase these at a deep discount because they are available at Anthro where my daughter works (don't hate me!). I did not size up, despite the advice, because I read some other reviews about sizing that seemed to suggest the opposite. I gambled and went with my normal size. Like Janet, I think I could go either way, depending on how slouchy I wanted the fit. I actually love these in my normal size: they fit exactly like what they say they are, a slouchy skinny. If I sized up, they would probably fit more like my BF jeans, which is more slouch than I want. These have room in the thigh and a little room in the butt, and this is before any stretching due to wear. So for me that is perfect. I love how they are narrow at the ankle. Cute with heels. These I am keeping.

Pics 9-12 show the Les Chiffoniers citron blouse from The Outnet. I am on the fence but leaning toward returning because I think the fit is awkward, although I love the color and am ready to commit to another Citron top. (You were right, Gigi. It does take love to commit to this much citron.) The sleeves are very long, even for a long-armed person like me, and they don't have a cuff of any kind, just some kind of glossy interior lining almost like a patent leather taping. If you scrunch the sleeves, they don't stay, which is annoying. I'm not totally sold on the drape of the material either. It's a little stiff. What do you all think?

Thanks for looking and for chiming in! Honest, unvarnished thoughts. Please!!
