Stuff that wasn't integrated into our home got sent to the 'room of shame'. I am grateful that we got a telephone call from the MS folks who come by every 3-4 months looking for donations and the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. The came to our home and hauled it all away. Angie's closet cull in October (for me) segued into a pre-Reno tidy up. DH wanted a walk-out basement when we were looking at houses but the realtor said it would add more than $1000 to the price compared with similar homes. With a dog I did not want to have to do stairs to let her out into the back ( fenced in yard), but the natural light would be nice. He pretty much has the basement to himself with his office, comfy media room, a bathroom with shower (we plan to put in a steam shower) and exercise area and bar with refrigerator. I am looking at your beautiful space for decorating ideas. It is a bungalow style with one floor living, but a 'walk-out' basement. The room that bothered us the most was the basement rec room. It was divided by pillars and had a floor that was part carpet/part cork. We speculate that a previous owner had a home gym. </p> <p>My goal was to create a cozy 'man cave' for DH (I have my music room) where I could be comfortable watching TV or reading a book on a dark and stormy night! The renovation work (removing non weight bearing pillars, upgrading wet bar, etc.) started the last week of January and the furniture was delivered this week. Some art up, but more - and some additional accessories on the way. </p> <p>DH is very happy (so I am happy!) but our DS'sx2 may never leave!</p> <p>(Befores are 'paprika' and afters are BM Hale Navy. </p>
