I'm with you! Mine are the same, but both ways. Summer sandals have their own contact points (and each pair seems to have their personal one) and winter shoes have another set. I rotate my shoes often and wear socks or hose when I can to reduce the rubbing.

I have also heard from foot and shoe people that if you wear non-confining sandals, your feet can spread a bit over the season. Don't know if that's a fact though. Good luck with the transition. I am finding that with fussy feet, a wish for pointier toes and a frequent preference for cushioned insoles, that a half a size up can make a lot of sense.

I have the same problem as Angie - my feet always have problems at the start of summer. Especially with thong sandals. My boots always seem to fit, but I can see how formally unconfined feet might not like the feel of boots again.

Oh; I have the same problem as Angie too - to the point I shove newspapers in my sandals so they will hopefully keep a "foot shape" over the long winter!

I have the opposite problem - trouble re-breaking in shoes in Summer sans socks. It makes sense, Thistle. Just got to ride it through.

For me, it is the feet (not the shoes). My feet feel almost claustrophobic when I start bundling them back up! I am on the lookout for some closed shoes that are comfortable without socks to help ease the journey

That used to happen when I went barefoot or wore flip flops all summer. Those nylon knee highs may help the transition.

Oh yes! My feet are rebelling against shoes that were comfy at the end of the winter. Not sure if it is my feet or my shoes that are responsible either...

Maybe it is just me, but fall always seems all the more difficult as I break in formally comfortable shoes and boots. Not sure if the leather "settles" over the summer or if my feet have just enjoyed the freedom of sandals!

Wearing my Tayrn Rose boots this morning, and while not unfcomfortable per se, not the super comfy boots they were at the end of last winter!
