When I had to go to my first "back to the office" day earlier this year, I ended up in classics: dark skinnies, white blouse, riding boots, and a beautiful silk scarf that tied everything together and made it an "outfit". I have a big collection of neckerchiefs, smaller squares, plus a goodly number of the larger silk ones. I’ll pop one on at least once a week and wear with everything from a tee shirt and jeans to shirt and blazer. No fancy or complicated knots. I feel jaunty, French and … I dunno … somehow complete when I don a scarf. Will say, I never see anyone else ever with a jaunty scarf so maybe I’m fooling myself and instead I look dated, mid-Western and over-done! Haha. I am very happy I did so, because I realized that a scarf in another colourway might be more useful (since I do already have a green scarf). I started looking at their other colours. Then a few months ago they released new designs - but, unlike so many brands that create FOMO, the original designs are still available.<br />The inspirations behind my new scarf crush apparently include Matisse as well as traditional Oaxacan embroidery, both things I love. I am also a huge fan of insect motifs and a former bio major who took a class in entomology. I do not do anything tricky with them. I like a long or large square scarf to wrap loosely around my neck once and let the ends hang down. I had told myself I’d perhaps ask for the Nana scarf for Christmas, but at 40% off it feels like a now or never decision.</p> <p>I love the pattern and the colours. But realistically I already have a Hermes square based on similar greens (bought from a vintage picker at a good price), as well as a smaller (more wearable for me) silk scarf in green and blue. Along with a couple of of other quite nice scarves that never saw a lot of wear. Truth is I admire silk scarves so much but I think they are too fussy for my style. I can never figure out the ‘right’ way for *me* to wear them and once I do manage something, they don’t stay tied up for long. I often feel pretentious and self-conscious wearing them. Imposter syndrome, almost. I do not have an obvious bag &amp; shoe complement for this scarf, nor any particular coat or outfit in mind.</p> <p>Some of this is pandemic doldrums - nowhere to go &amp; nothing to wear.
